I enjoyed this story about 12-year old Flora, who finds herself in a 1935 boarding school, with a second set of memories overlaid on her own. In order to return to her own time she has to set something right for the girl who summoned her using a spell found in an old book. Along the way she learns to think beyond herself and her own problems. A quick, easy, read. ( ) The premise as intriguing. A rather rude/spoiled girl is sent to boarding school and ends up attending said boarding school in the 1930s. However, the school itself was written rather unrealistically, the elements of witchcraft and other adult content were a bit much for a juvenile reader, and the characters were a bit one-dimensional. So I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't. Flora, a somewhat spoiled twelve-year-old, is angry to be sent to boarding school while her parents travel to Italy to see to her elderly grandmother. On the train to school, she passes out and wakes to find herself arriving at a different school--in 1935. Prickly at first, she eventually makes friends with her dorm mates, who cast the spell to bring her back in time. Although she reluctantly settles in at school, she still desperately wants to return home. But first she has something to accomplish in the past. This is probably a better book than I give it credit for. The early parts were hitting my social-embarrassment twitches rather hard, but it was still enjoyable. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
