This picture book is about a little boy and his attachment with Roland, a parkeet that he brought home and treated as if it was his pet. This story book is a good book to read to first graders. The students will learn that they too at a young age take responsibility and care of something. Not only that but the students will learn about sacrifice and selflessness. ( ) A little boy named Pete finds a parakeet and decides to keep him as a pet. After putting Roland (the parakeet) in a cage, Pete realizes how unhappy he is so he allows him to fly in and out of his cage as he pleases. Unfortunately Roland gets out of an open window and, as much as Pete searches for Roland, he is unable to bring him home :-( The silver lining is that Pete believes that that he occasionally sees Roland flying around with a flock of racing pigeons and he believes he seems happy. I realize that this book seems like an insignificant part of life, but I find that the details of this book are relatable and that, to me, is important in books, especially a child's book. This is a cute book, but I just thought it was okay. It's about a little boy who has a pet bird and it flys away. I guess I did not like the book because it wasn't very detailed and seemed to short. But then again it is a children's book. I also believe that the age rating for this book might be a little old that they recommen this book for. I do not think that 8 year olds would be interesting in this book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
