Emily Elizabeth and her friends were playing in the winter snow; Clifford and his friends were at the soccer field. It was covered by ice, so they were playing Hop, Hop, and Slide. But when Cleo tried, she fell on the ice.

What will happen next?

=========

This Scholastic Big Red Reader takes advantage of the young reader’s interest in stories about Clifford the Big Red Dog. Here the child learns sees how Clifford, T-Bone, and Mac try to help Cleo get over her fear of the ice.

The target audience here is the young reader, ages two through eight, with the younger readers enjoying the story read to them while the older child may be able to read independently.

The unfolding story shows the young reader how friends watch out for each other. When Clifford, T-Bone and Mac convinced Cleo that they didn’t care if she looked silly, that they could all be silly together, they are showing the child how friends are accepting and supportive.

Highly recommended.

I'm not a big fan of stories where the main plot is waiting for a liar to be caught or confess their lie.

FOR REFERENCE:

Adapted by Bob Barkly and illustrators Carolyn Bracken & Ken Edwards from the television script "That's Snow Lie" by Scott Guy for the Clifford the Big Red Dog PBS Kids animated series, Season 2, Episode 1, February 12, 2002.

This a great book to read to kids. This book shows the power of love has power to make the smallest things become the biggest.

This book is about Clifford, Cleo, and T-bone. They all go to play tag when suddenly Cleo cries out for help. However, when Clifford and T-bone got to her she was laughing and said "fooled you!" They tell Cleo that it is not funny and then they all three go off to swim in the pond. Clifford and T-bone jump in the water when again they hear Cleo yelling for help. Once again, when they get to her she is just laughing. Finally, Clifford and T-bone walk away and this time when Cleo yells for help they do not come to her rescue. The only problem is that this time she actually did need their help. The book goes on to show that if you always lie, when you are actually in trouble no one will believe you.
