Roger Fitzgerald's lifelong love affair with seafood began as a young boy on clam-digging excursions with his mother in Newport, Rhode Island. He skippered his own fishing boats in Washington and Alaska for several years and in 1978 began reporting for the Alaska Fisherman's Journal, for which he toon meer continues to write a column. From 1981-1998 Roger was an editor for the international seafood magazine Seafood Leader. He now lives in Duvall, Washington, not far from Puget Sound, where he likes to keep his line in the wate toon minder

The recipes are never complicated, and have the added bonus of having suggested substitutes when the original seafood is not available.
The food writing makes for good reading, if it is a bit North American-centric. That said, there are some sojourns to other parts of the world - but why is it that foreign writers always have to make mistakes about Australia?? (we don't have alligators here guys, they're crocodiles!). This leaves the reader wondering about the veracity of his accounts of other places such as Thailand and Chile. But overall, a very enjoyable read. Now i just have to try out some of the recipes!… (meer)
