The recipes are never complicated, and have the added bonus of having suggested substitutes when the original seafood is not available.
The food writing makes for good reading, if it is a bit North American-centric. That said, there are some sojourns to other parts of the world - but why is it that foreign writers always have to make mistakes about Australia?? (we don't have alligators here guys, they're crocodiles!). This leaves the reader wondering about the veracity of his accounts of other places such as Thailand and Chile. But overall, a very enjoyable read. Now i just have to try out some of the recipes! ( )
