Recipes aside, the main draw of this book is the presentation. The photographs are fine examples of how to do it right, and combined with the layout and typography, one could read the book from cover to cover and be satisfied with consuming the contents visually. As a fan of macro photography, this book is right up my alley. The photos not only illustrate the food and drinks outlined in the recipes, they also present the items in a different perspective than what one might have at a cocktail party.

We could be called cookbook collectors. We certainly don't think of ourselves that way. With nearly 100 cookbooks on a shelf in the kitchen, we know we're just amateurs. But compared to many, we have an overabundance of cookbooks. Our shelf is full. Any new cookbook added in means one cookbook going out.

We were very happy to add Slurp to our shelf. It contains the right combination of snark and usefulness that keeps us going back into its pages for ideas. I will admit, if you're looking for a new, fun cocktail book you should look to AJ Rathbun's Good Spirits, but if you want a book that has a few unusual ideas, as well as gives you complimentary food recipes, this is the place to go.

The drink recipes are fun and tasty. It does call for some non traditional ingredients, and if like us you live well outside large urban areas, it could be difficult to obtain said items. Nonetheless, we spent a few nights trying out the drinks and food items and had a great time. The recipes are just the thing if you're looking to make your dinner party stand out from your friend's.

True drink connoisseurs will not find enough information in this book to satisfy their needs. However, if you're looking to jazz up a dinner party or an impromptu gathering of friends, this book will fit the bill.… (meer)
