Great information, but the font needs to be bigger with less white space. It's a bit hard on the eyes.

A short but fairly comprehensive history of the Revolutionary War. Very objective, spends a little effort to gain both the colonial and the British perspective and struggles. Large print text and many muted, colorful illustrations, also some photographs, make this book easy to read. I can see it being of great use to a second or third grader needing a book for a report. It is not boring and also not gruesome; age appropriate. Includes a short bibliography of books and online resources and a small glossary.

This book provides an overview of some early explorers that traveled to North America. It includes information about Leif Ericsson, Columbus, Vespucci, Cabot, and Lewis & Clark.

This book provides an excellent overview to many facets of colonial life. It describes how the colonists farmed, built houses, prepared food, what kind of medicine was available, and even what the colonists did for fun in their spare time. I read this book aloud to the whole class as an introduction to our Colonial America unit.

This book provides an overview of some early explorers that traveled to North America. It includes information about Leif Ericsson, Columbus, Vespucci, Cabot, and Lewis & Clark. I appreciated the information about Ericsson, Vespucci, and Cabot because they are often left out of explorer units. I used this book as a whole class read aloud in the beginning of our explorer unit. Students were free to re-read the book or use it as a reference during the rest of the unit.

This book contains information about the island of Ireland. It has a map right in the front of the book showing where it is located in the world and what places are around it. It talks about the climate of the island and general information about the island. The book also give a good brief discription about the history of Ireland and it's people. The book also tells us a little bit about one of it's most famous persons, St. Patrick. The book is honest and does not leave out the wars between the Catholic and Protestant groups. We learn what types of work the people of Ireland do as well as how they celebrate. The book also informs us about the world famous writers, poets, and musicians that have come from Ireland.
This is a wonderfully rich book of color, culture and history. The writer gives the information in a way that is easy to understand and read. The pictures don't look dated even though the book was written is 1972. They are colorful, are enjoyable to look at, and contain a wealth of information themselves.
I could use this book during the month of March when studying about St. Patrick's day and learning about the Irish beliefs and culture. I also think it would be great to do a whole study using Ireland as the focus. This book would be a great reference to use for spelling words, social study information, math lessons, as well as general reading skills.
