The discovery of OverDrive is like finding a hidden treasure for many people. OverDrive allows users to check out books, audiobooks, and more across a variety of e-readers and other devices. The OverDrive app for iOS is another pleasant discovery. Sleek, easy to use, and well-designed, the OverDrive app makes it easy to read a book right on your iPhone.

With the ability to add a multitude of libraries, users can check out books from whatever library they have a library card (and that subscribes to the service). The mobile catalog allows users to search in a variety of ways, and in a variety of formats. Once a user finds a book or audiobook they would like, it downloads directly on the phone, and, depending on the size, usually within a minute or two. There’s also a useful history screen to see what previous items you’ve checked out, as well as an option to turn the orientation off on your phone (although many newer iPhones have this feature already built in). All that’s required to start checking out items is a membership in a participating library, your library card number, and then an entire downloadable library (or maybe even two or three!) is available at you fingertips.
