The main character Emery was a bit annoying to me so it took me forever to read this book.

This has been on my tbr for a while and Ive finally had time to read it!

Its a 4 star rating for me just cos for me 5 stars has to be absolutley fantastic and I really enjoyed this read but just not quite 5 stars.

I think its because I felt like I needed to see more of Reed's story, it felt like all the secrets came out in like a few lines and we didnt really get a resolution to him and Hannah even in the epilogue.

And i will read the next books in the series just to see how moving to the country storyline works out...

Hannah is a cutie and kids in MM storys is one of my faves along with meddling parents.

Lex and William have different personalities, but similar backgrounds. Their chemistry and snarky banter were fantastic. This is the 5th book in the Unexpected series and I have loved every single one so far. This book had almost no angst (which I love for most books!) Brenda just wanted to see both of her boys be happy and was glad that they connected with each other.

I think we need to see a book with Diablo and Skylar next!

I have read all of Cora Rose's books so far and I think Always Him is the best one yet! Landon and Finn are perfect together. The clingy-ness and co-dependency were top notch. Finn has secretly pined for Landon for years without him knowing but they were still affectionate anyway. Some slight angst but they quickly get their act together.

Reed absolutely broke me in this book! He was desperately trying to keep his secrets to himself about his sister and their financial/living situation that he was willing to go outside his comfort zone for money.

Carter instantly noticed this about Reed and slowly maneuvered his way into Reed's life to show that he cared for him and whatever he was hiding. They became so possessive of each other and didn't want to share with anyone else.

Carter's Moms were funny, caring and sweet showing all their support for their relationship from the start.

Looking forward to reading more in this series!

First of all, the steam in this book is insanely good!

I have read the whole Unexpected series so far, and they just keep getting better and better each time.

Colin is a single dad and also a professor at a community college. He takes care of his son Daniel so well and I loved their interactions with each other. Colin's POS ex doesn't really care for his son and drops him off early each time they are supposed to spend together. Ethan is from the UK and has been badly burned in a previous relationship also so anything he does is no-strings-attached. Until he meets Colin.

Their feud over a weed that grows in-between their houses that causes them to get HOA fines turns into watching each other through a window doing the dirtiest activities. I absolutely loved the way that Ethan was with Daniel. He treated him so well and spent so much time paying attention to him throughout this story. There is some angst with this, as both men have been left behind/cheated on in their previous serious relationships so they don't want to fall for each other even though they are in too deep already.

Spice Level: 5/5
Plot: 5/5

Quinn has been pining for Grey for the past 4 years without Grey knowing. When Grey's son Josh bails on their vacation plans before he leaves for college, Quinn quickly informs him that he will go in his place.

Quinn immediately starts openly flirting with Grey to test the waters to see if Grey feels the same way. When Grey realizes his intentions, he is hesitant to start anything due to his already-strained relationship with his son Josh. But once he starts giving in to temptation, he wants to let Quinn take the reins ruin him in the best ways possible.

Grey and Quinn's chemistry is off the charts and I loved how well Grey responded to Quinn's dirty talk and actions. Also, even though this is labeled as low-angst, you do see quite a bit due to Grey always second guessing everything because of his son and Quinn/Josh's friendship. Even with this, Cora always writes the tough scenes out really well and we do see the HEA that we are always rooting for!.

Book#2 of this series definitely did not disappoint! I had been waiting for Bennet and Jasper's story after the first book due to their enemies-to-lovers tension that was previously shown.

Bennet and Jasper have done a scene together and Jasper has a crazy amount of hatred/annoyance towards Bennet. Bennet likes to work Jasper's nerves and gets a kick out of it. When Bennet finds out his mother has had a stroke, he and Jasper go back home to Kansas to be there for her. They end up having to share a run-down trailer with not much space.

Jasper slowly opens up to Bennet and gets to know him better and ends up falling for him along with falling into bed with him.

This was spicy, sweet and had wonderful banter throughout that is always present in Cora's books.

**Reviewing Off Sides by Andi Jaxon**

I loved the instant connection that Nick had with Joey. The way he cared for him even when their first meeting was simply a hook-up. Joey isn't "out" and was nervous that someone was going to recognize him in the club and tell everyone.

After a second-chance meeting, they make an agreement to be each other's exclusive hook up until Joey says stop if he chooses. Joey has struggled with his personal issues and Nick sees how it effects him and takes the lead with Joey's insistance.

Although this is a short story, the spice is definitely in full-force and I don't think I will be able to look at cinnamon rolls the same either!.

This book is an emotional read. Which I know that Nicole can write emotional stories. As if I have not already said it before, i am really enjoying this series by authors, Nicole Dykes and Cora Rose. the authors were not joking when they said that they would bring the humor.

While Bennet is dealing with serious family situation, this does not mean everything had to be gray. That is where Jasper comes into the situation and lights the mood up. The things he would say would have me smiling and laughing. Yet, it also showed just how much Jasper cared for Bennet.

These two shared some really steamy times together. It was made even better because of the emotional connect they shared with one another. Becoming Bennet is a heartful and humorous read!

Lex has finally found a family with the ladies of the old folks home and he won't let anyone ruin his relationship with them as honorary grandson - not even Brenda's actual grandson, William. William just wants his grandmother to be happy and as long as Lex isn't stealing her money then he doesn't mind sharing the love.

I haven't really liked Lex in the earlier books - he was just the creepy dude with the cameras and questionable morals. And for the first 20% I still didn't like him. But I hung in there and found that Lex isn't so bad after all - just slightly psychotic. I did love the scene with him and Diablo dealing with William's stalker though. It was hilarious. William was okay too, even if he wasn't really memorable in any way. The relationship between them was fairly sweet and straightforwards with no real relationship angst between them once they overcame their initial dislike/distrust of one another. My biggest problem with this book was the emotional angst that came from having Brenda DIE! It hit a little too close to home frankly. What can I say - I miss my nan. And since this all happened near the end, it ruined the happy high of their relationship and just made me sad.

Overall an average read. 3 stars.

Logan needs to bring up his chemistry grade if he wants to stay on the water polo team. His only chance is Theo - a miracle worker tutor. Theo just wants to be left alone by campus jocks so when Logan begs him for his help, he throws out sexual favours as payment for tutoring positive he'll be turned down. And then he isn't.

This was an easy enjoyable read. There's nothing particularly deep or complex although it does touch on issues of bullying, grief of losing a loved one and confidence issues about intelligence. I didn't love either character but there was lots of humour, fluff and heat to make up for it. I'll likely pick up the second book - I'm not overly invested but I would like to know what happens between Logan's brother, Landon and best friend, Finn.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Luke has been feeling a bit lonely lately with his brother and cousin both finding love. So when he meets the most intriguing man in the coffee shop, he's willing to take a chance on love. Elliot was just trying to have a coffee on his break when he made the mistake of engaging with the crazy bleeding man and now he can't seem to be rid of him.

I loved Luke in the first two books, so I had pretty high hopes for his story. Unfortunately it didn't meet them. It started out strong but started going downhill pretty fast. The problem was - I just didn't like Elliot. At all. I started out thinking he'd get better but he doesn't - he gets worse and I just didn't care. The focus on Elliot's point of view towards the end didn't help - the whole breakdown of his relationship was his own fault and he does nothing to fix it but whinges the whole time.

The inclusion of Lex was kind of random too. I did like Elliot's sisters though - and the fact that Luke's busy in group chats with the lot of them. So it was readable and the first 65% or so had some hilarious parts. But the last 35% just kept bringing my rating lower and lower. 2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 for Luke and only Luke.

August can't stand his new stepbrother, Emery. But his mother keeps pushing him to play nice and he doesn't want to disappoint her. Emery has a thing for August but everything he does seems to make August mad. Until long hours stuck carpooling reveal that August may have misjudged him.

I liked this. Not as much as the first two books, but it was a good read. It was a lot though - I wouldn't necessarily say it was darker than the first two, but it was definitely more emotional. Emery's childhood was horrific and although not covered in depth, it's covered enough to get the gist. I found his ADHD thoughts hard to adapt to at the start - it was kind of jarring, but I barely noticed by the end.

I did like that this book has a more frequent point of view transition than the first two. Fewer transitions worked in the earlier books, but this one definitely worked better having both August and Emery's inner thoughts. There was some fluffiness but not an overwhelming amount and the chemistry between August and Emery was red hot. An enjoyable read especially for those that like more emotionally charged reads. 4 stars.

Sem just can't seem to shake his obsession with Magnus. The tiny firecracker defies all his expectations and he can't help being intrigued. Magnus met Sem when he drove his friend Whit to the hospital and hasn't been able to get rid of him since. But the longer Sem is around, the less Magnus wants him to go.

I loved this book. Sem and Magnus (Maggie!) were adorable. There are some similarities with the first book, but on the whole, Sem and Maggie are very different characters. Maggie is much more outgoing than either Caleb or Whit and Sem is reserved in a much different way to Whit. My biggest complaint was that there wasn't as much of the other characters - I adored Sem's family in the last one and I was disappointed not to see as much interaction with them.

The scene with Sem threatening Magnus' dad and brother had me in hysterics. The first book had all the feels, but this book had a lot of humour as well. The transitions between the two characters was similar to the first book, with only a few snippets of Sem's thoughts but it worked well to tell the bulk of the story from Maggie's point of view.

Also like the first book, there's not a huge amount of depth to the plot but what's there works well. The plot deals with bullying by family and others, body confidence and learning disabilities but doesn't dwell, which keeps the plot pretty lighthearted. I don't love emotional reads so it was a win for me. And the chemistry between Sem and Maggie was off the charts and the relationship that develops between them is pure sugary sweetness.

It was swoonworthy with lots of humour, fluffiness and heat and overall, a fantastic read. It's probably not a five star rating in terms of quality - maybe a 3.5/4 - but in terms of pure enjoyment it deserves all five stars.

5 stars.

Caleb might be a little obsessed with his new roommate Whit. He just can't seem to figure the guy out. But when he gets sick, he soon has the chance to find out.

I adored this book. Caleb was a total sweetheart. He was outgoing and bold and nice. Well, he could be a little mean, but he was mostly just nice and I loved it. His relationship with his cousins, Sem and Luke and his friendships with Mal and later, Magnus were fantastic. I loved how supportive they all were of one another. I also loved that it didn't get bogged down in angst about coming out. I liked that once Caleb decided what he wanted, he was all in.

There's not a huge amount of depth to the plot but what there is works well. There's a bit of discussion about death of a loved one, mental illness and homophobia but it's not dwelled on or examined too deeply. The transitions between Whit and Caleb's point of view came at the perfect points. They weren't evenly balanced - but Caleb's point of view was much better suited to playing narrator.

It's well written with lots of steam and fluffiness. It's probably not quite as good as my rating, but honestly I just loved it so much - it was very much right book, right time and so - 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

Cora Rose is a new to me author. Yet, I am a fan of Nicole Dykes. So, when I say this book, I knew I had to read it. It is amazing! This book was giving me a combination of vibes from both of Nicole's Spark of Hope and Kensley Panthers series. The emotions from Hope and the angst from Panthers. I am here for it all. Looking forward to continuing this series.

Carter is the one with being on camera experience. I like that he did not push reed into anything he was uncomfortable with. The tenderness in which he showed towards Reed was sweet. The more that I got to know of Reed, the more that I fell for him. Cora and Nicole, you ladies slayed it with this book!

This is an ARC review and could have spoilers.
There are mentions of transphobia, there is some BDSM, naughty texts, stalking, protective sisters, blood,

This story follows Luke, who is a cisman, and Elliot who we find out is a transman. They meet in a coffee shop.. The circumstances I would say not the best. Luke bleeding. Elliot cutting in line. It was a disaster.

This is actually the first book from this series that I have read.

So, Elliot, cuts in line, at said coffee shop, and Luke is not amused. One of my favorite lines, comes from this encounter, "You gonna fix me up, Doc? Make me all respectable?” from Luke. Luke is such a funny and odd dude. And Elliot is such a prim, proper, stand-up kinda guy. They seem like they would never mix well.

"We are so friends now." - Luke.
I loved this part. Luke is a big hulk of a guy but is so weird and soft. Like, a pit bull puppy. You know it's cute, and it is going to test your patience, but you get it and love it anyway.

"I’m like Scooby-Doo.” - Luke
There are a few qualities, that Luke has that reminds me of my nibbling, and a few other family/friends, whom are on the spectrum. And when I mentioned certain parts, he agrees. We both fell in love with how puppy dog Luke could be.

Just a heads up, I read the ARC, he read it on KU.

These two seem like a pair that would explode and never work. But, they do. And not only do they.. They find love, and happiness with each other. Something that is not always easy for those of us in the lgbtqai2 community to find.

The same nibbling which I spoke of before, is a transman, I asked him his take on the story. He told me, that often he worries that others will not accept him. That not only will they shun him, but hurt him. Something that Elliot feels as well. Something that Luke wants to shield him from.

Also, while there are mentions of transphobia in this story, it is not Luke saying those things to Elliot. They are from a past partner.

Luke and Elliot get there HEA. Something that many of us, yearn for.

I'm sorry if this review is a bit of a jumbled mess. It was quite hard to put into words, how much I loved this story, and how it hit home for many of my loved ones.

5/5 stars
