Lunaea Weatherstone

Brigid, whether you view her as goddess or saint, is a deity who covers a lot of territory. She’s a goddess of so many things in life: the herd, the kitchen, the garden, healing, midwifing at both ends of life, fire and the hearth as well as the forge, writing, and warrioring. I’m sure I missed a few things. She fulfilled just about every goddess role in the ancient Celtic world. This book covers them all.

Weatherstone is a long time priestess of Brigid, and has done mountains of historical research, but she didn’t take this huge task (250 pages) on by herself. She enlisted 19 other women to add their unique takes on Brigid. Because paganism can be largely a do-it-yourself religion, I appreciated this as it offers a much more rounded view of Brigid and how she is being worshipped/prayed to/invoked today. There are ways shown to integrate Brigid into just about every part of one’s life if one should so choose. The book is written in an easy to read style without the dryness that many religious texts have.… (meer)

Although the illustrations differ from others by Lunaea Weatherstone (the lines being crisp and clear rather than blended or sketchy) they are just as lovely.
However, one must be warned that although these are marketed as a Rider-Waite based deck & great for a beginner, the majors are labeled so differently that they cannot be considered as such. The minors also are labeled differently (Spring for Wands, Summer for Cups, Autumn for Pentacles, and Winter for Swords) but at least the Rider-Waite symbolism is reflected on them.… (meer)

This stunningly beautiful, self-published work is one of the more successful collage-based Tarot decks out there. It was first published by the creator/artist Lunaea Weatherstone in 2005, with an initial run of 250 decks. The deck can only be ordered directly from her (in the event she receives enough orders for a second run); however, you can also do online readings via her website at www.lunaea.com/tarot ... which is where you can place your order, too, if you're interested.

The card I chose to represent the Full Moon Dreams deck (as a LibraryThing "cover") is the Seven of Earth - Patience. The meanings attributed to Weatherstone's major and minor arcana are faithful to the original Tarot, although her visual interpretations are sumptuous, playful, and often witty.
