Over mijn bibliotheek

My library contains books that belong to me, my husband or my two daughters. The vast majority of the books are mine, but the engineering books, books about Porsche's and other car stuff are probably my husband's. My daughters are grown now and have their own book collections, but I still have their children's and young adult books in my collection.

The author of 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die: A Life Changing List, James Mustich used to publish a book catalog called A Common Reader. I credit him with my discovery of my favorite author, Dorothy Dunnett. A few years ago, I decided to re-arrange my bookshelves to collect all of the books I already owned that were in his book. In the process I ordered many books to add to my collection and continue to find gems, so the re-organizing is ongoing. By the way, Mustich's book is great to read for its own sake, and I highly recommend it over other "thousands of books to read before you die" books.

Books I'm currently reading:

- The Labyrinth of the Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

- [Slay Ride] by [[Dick Francis]]

- Organizing Information: Principle of Data Base and Retrieval Systems by Dagobert Soergel

Over mij

There are few things in life better than reading a good book. I was often teased for always having at least one book with me wherever I was, and I had a high school boyfriend break up with me because I was always reading -- good riddance to him. My profile photo is of Dorothy Dunnett, my favorite author.

Many of my friends suggest I retire, and I may someday, but for now I am still enjoying my work. I began a new career (though still related to the rest of my career) a year ago as a cyber threat analyst. Prior to that, I served in the Air Force for twenty years, worked for a while as an analyst for a large U.S. government agency, a small state agency, and as a private investigator. I continue to do some consulting work on the side.

My hobbies include long distance motorcycling, needle arts, and of course, reading.
