- A mix of fiction and non-fiction. My non-fiction is a mix of time periods and ages that catch my attention and some scientific theories that catch my eye. For fiction, I am an Austen fan, love older writers like London and Sinclair but historic novels are my weakness. They are the chocolate of my library.

- Mom started teaching me to read before I could really understand so that by the age of two I was picking out words. By age five I was bored in kindergarten and became a troublemaker as a result. I would get bored with the books in the house and read the encyclopedia. All I heard in the 6th grade was "Put your hand down. We know you know the answer." I was so far ahead of anyone in reading I got to skip that class in the 7th and 8th grade. I tutored 2nd graders instead. Since I was so far ahead in most subjects I didn't feel I needed to do homework, so I had a combination of so so grades and quite a few parental conferences with the principal. I worked on an English degree because it's easy to get good grades for what you like doing anyway. The only thing holding me back from graduation and the first college degree in the family? An absolute loathing of math, the antithesis of reading. Books are my best friends. I have them with me everywhere. My iPod is used more for books than music. My smartphone model was chosen for it's ability to handle ebooks, not whether it could make a decent phone call. When asked what I would need to survive on a deserted island I answered quickly, "A crate full of books. Really good literature or I'll go mad." Now if I can just figure out how to get that Great American novel written...
