So far this year, I've managed to keep up a reading journal. I started this because friends have often asked me how many books I read a month/year and I never knew. I just read....it's one of my favorite thing to do.

So, here's what I've read so far. I've listed them by month. Hopefully I can keep this thread up as well.

For January & February, I just listed them together before I started breaking them down monthly.
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
The Book of Bright Ideas by Sandra Kring
Me & Emma by Elizabeth Flock
So Yesterday by Scott Westerfeld
Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
and last by not least
Bitter is the new Black by Jen Lancaster

March 2007 was a good month to read:

Peeps by Scott Westerfeld
The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld
Go Ask Alice by Anonymous
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Midnighters: The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld

I decided to continue in a different post for the next couple of months.....

April 2007

Midnighters: Toughing Darkness by Scott Westerfeld
Midnighters: Blue Noon by Scott Westerfeld
Physik by Angie Sage
Little Lady, Big Apple by Hester Browne
Magic Lessons by Justine Larbalestier
Magic's Child by Justine Larbalestier
and
Fade by Robert Cormier

I have to say, I was lucky enough to meet Justine Larbalestier and Scott Westerfeld at a book signing here in Austin, and they are some of the coolest people I've met. She was so funny and personable! I went to the signing a huge Scott Westerfeld fan and a little fan of Jusine's, but I left being a bigger fan of hers. Her personality is amazing.

The next three months were very sad months for reading.

May 2007

A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah
Half-Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer

June 2007

Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster
Damsel Under Stress by Shanna Swendson
The Curoius Incident of the dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

July 2007

Happy Birthday Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle
and
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

Pretty sad compared to the previous months. Well, time to go back to the bookstore, I'm running low.....

So far August has been pretty nice for my reading schedule. I've been reading YA books, which I have to say have been more fun to read lately.

Without more rambling....

Inkhart by Cornelia Funke
Forever in Blue by Ann Brashares
Crank by Ellen Hopkins
and
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

I think this brings up my total for this year to 30 books. I'm almost at the 50 book mark, but I had higher hopes for closer to 100 books this year. Still possible I think. I have 40 books at the house in my TBR pile. I'm enjoying reading more though.

Book #31
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan.

This was a fun read and a good sequel. Now, I'm ready for the third book in this series.

#32
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I was really surprised as to how much I love this story. I kept putting off reading it until I couldn't any longer, and wow, am I hooked. Time to get the next books in the series.

#33
the Hollow Kingdom by Clare B. Dunkle

I read this for the YA book discussion, and I was not impressed. It really felt like a typical romance novel for teens....

In the last couple of days - I've managed to read two books! August was a busy month for reading, I managed to read 8 books! I'm almost amazed that I had that much time to read.

#34
The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan was finished 8/31/07

and

#35
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer was finished 9/1/07

Now, I'm on to Eclipse! I thought I was finished reading vampire stories - guess I was wrong. :)

#36
Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

I have to say as this series continues, I'm finding it harder and harder to like the main character, Bella - she's getting whiney! But that won't stop me from reading the next book in the series, the other characters more than make up for her plm's. (poor little me's)

#37
The Sisters Grimm The Fairy-Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley

This was a fun little read. I'm not sure if I will bother with the rest of the series just yet. They are going to be good books for the younger kids to read and enjoy though.

#38
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

My husband bought His Dark Materials for me to read... I just finished the first book, and am a little sad by Lyra's last actions. I don't want to give away the ending, but I expected her to be a little more loyal to her friend. I am interested to see where the next two books take the story though.

The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

Now I have a good idea why the trilogy is called His Dark Materials. I am more hooked on the plot and characters after reading this book - and I am really looking forward to the last book to see how it all plays out!

#41 Extras by Scott Westerfeld

I LOVE his books. This was a great addition to the Uglies series. It gave us fans a peak at the future after the mind-rain, and we got to see that Tally is still Tally. I love the way that fame was used instead of currency - and you could earn merits (money) by doing community service and jobs. It was so cool.

#42 Beyond the Deepwoods by Paul Stewart & Chris Riddell

My cousin recommended this book to me - and it was not something that I enjoyed. Love the cousin, but I think that some books we will not be able to share because of our age difference.

This was such a sad book to read. Don't get me wrong, I really really liked this book, but it was sad too.

Way to go! I am on my last book for my goal now (well, twice--I am in the middle of two books, but I only need one to reach goal). It's a good feeling, I agree!

Edited to add: I think this is a good time to reach the goal too--too early in the year, and it clearly wasn't a good goal. This is early enough to be goo dreading, but not so early that your goal was just silly....

This was an entertaining and light read. A little predictable as to who was behind all the kidnappings, but a fun way to spend a lazy day.
