I had a nice little conversation with the one of the Welsh-language publishers at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Gomer. It's hard to promote LT to publishers--we're not really offering them anything special yet. But they can promote the LibraryThing Authors program to their authors, and Gomer was very interested to hear about the Welsh translation efforts. With any luck, LT can become THE space for Welsh-language literary discussion. I can hope anyway...

I'm afraid that I won't be any help in translating, but I'm fascinated by Welsh, which is an ancestral language for me (I've got one set of great-grandparents who came over from there).

Glad to hear that you met up with some people from Wales at the fair. They publish some nice books. Have you come accross www.gwales.com ? It's an on-line bookshop specialising in Welsh-language books and books from Wales. Might be useful. I've rabbed a lot of covers from there for my Welsh books. Once the translation is finished we'll try and get some attention here. I have been on the radio once, about a year ago talking about LT as it was starting. There are a few poroblems in translating from Englidh to Welsh - one in particular can be fiddly, Welsh tens to put verbs first un sebtences, so 'Dogfael translated ... as ...' shoul be 'Translated Dogfael ... fel ...'. There are more but I won't go into it now. Just to say that I think LT is great.

Thanks. When we do a push into other online sellers, they'd be a good one to pick up.
