Indigenous rights activist Prof. Haunani-Kay Trask died July 3 at the age of 72. Her books include From a Native Daughter, Eros and Power and Night is a Sharkskin Drum.

Indian actor Dilip Kumar died July 7 at the age of 98. His books include Dilip Kumar - The Substance and the Shadow: An Autobiography and The Tamil Story.

Olympian fencer Gillian Sheen died July 5 at the age of 92. She wrote Instructions to Young Fencers.

Geneticist Richard Lewontin died July 4 at the age of 92. His books include Biology as Ideology, Not in our Genes and The Triple Helix.

Scholar of Shakespeare and English renaissance drama Michael Hattaway died July __ at the age of 80. Among his various books are The Cambridge Companion to English Renaissance Drama and The Cambridge Companion to Shakespeare's History Plays.

Cartoonist Danny Shanahan died July 5 at the age of 64. His books include Bad Sex!, Lassie! Get Help! Cartoon and I’m No Quack: A Book of Doctor Cartoons.

Widow of the former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, Jehan Sadat died July 9 at the age of 87. She wrote A Woman of Egypt and My Hope for Peace.

Michael Horovitz, poet, died 7th July 2021 aged 86.

FBI historian Athan Theoharis died July 3 at the age of 84. His books include The Boss: J. Edgar Hoover, The Yalta Myths, Seeds of Repression and From the Secret Files of J. Edgar Hoover.

Journalist Priscilla Johnson McMillan died July 7 at the age of 92. Her books include Marina and Lee and The Ruin of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Poet Michael Horovitz died July 7 at the age of 86. His books include Children of Albion, Grandchildren of Albion and Wordsounds and Sightlines.

Bluegrass fiddler Byron Berline died July 10 at the age of 77. He wrote A Fiddler’s Diary.

Retired US four star General Montgomery C. Meigs died July 6 at the age of 76. He wrote Slide Rules and Submarines.

Tax attorney and former IRS Commissioner Margaret Milner Richardson died July 13 at the age of 78. She wrote several editions of the Ernst & Young Tax Savers Guide.

Former head of the London stock exchange Nicholas Goodison died July 6 at the age of 87. His books include Matthew Boulton: Ormolu, English Barometers and These Fragments.

Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries was assassinated on July 15. He was 64. His books include De ontvoering van Alfred Heineken and Een moord kost meer levens.

Civil rights attorney Frank Askin died July 1 at the age of 89. He wrote “You Can Tell it to the Judge” and other true Tales of Law School Lawyering and Defending Rights: A Life in Law and Politics.

Museum director Jeremy Silvester died of coronavirus on July 5 at the age of 58. He wrote My Heart Tells me I that have Done Nothing Wrong: The Fall of Mandume and Re-viewing Resistance in Namibian History.

Journalist and editor David Randall has died at the age of 70. His books include Universal Journalist and Royal Misbehavior.

Darts champion Andy Fordham died July 15 from covid complications at the age of 59. He wrote Andy Fordham - The Viking.

Comedian Tom O’Connor died July 18 at the age of 81. His books include From the Tee to the Woods, Tom O’Connor’s Book of Liverpool Humor and Take a funny Turn.

Linguist Jack Windsor Lewis died July 11 at the age of 94. He wrote A Concise Pronouncing Dictionary of British and American English.

Cricket correspondent John Woodcock died July 18 at the age of 94. He wrote several editions of Wisden’s Cricket Almanack and The Times One Hundred Greatest Cricketers.

Author William F. Nolan died July 15 at the age of 93. He’s best known for Logan’s Run and Logan’s World.

Award-winning children's book author and illustrator Floyd Cooper died July 16 at the age of 65. Among his many books is Coming Home: From the Life of Langston Hughes.

Ceramics expert Ella Schaap died July 10 at the age of 108. She wrote Delft Ceramics at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Dutch Floral Tiles in the Golden Age.

Biographer Joan Le Mesurier died July 9 at the age of 90. She wrote Lady Don’t Fall Backwards and Dear John.

Horror writer Joe McKinney died July 13 at the age of 52. Among his many books are Dead City and Flesh Eaters.

Michèle Lalonde, québécoise dramatist, essayist, playwright and poet who wrote the famous poem Speak White, died July 22 at the age of 83. Her works include Défense et illustration de la langue québécoise.

Comedian Jackie Mason died July 24 at the age of 93. His books include How to Talk Jewish, Schmucks!: Our Favorite Fakes, Frauds, Lowlifes, Liars, Jackie, Oy!: Jackie Mason from Birth to Rebirth and Jackie Mason's the world according to me!

Civil rights activist Bob Moses died July 25 at the age of 86. He wrote Radical Equations: civil rights from Mississippi to the Algebra project.

Lesbian rights activist Sally Miller Gearhart died July 14 at the age of 90. Her books include Wanderground and A Feminist Tarot.

Leader of a Portuguese coup Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho died July 25 at the age of 84. He wrote Alvorada em Abril.

Mother of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl, Ruth Pearl died July 20 at the age of 85. She co-wrote with her husband I Am Jewish: Personal Reflections Inspired by the Last Words of Daniel Pearl.

Publisher and polymath Roberto Calasso died July 28 at the age of 80. His books include The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony, Ka: and The Ruin of Kasch.

Author of seafaring adventures Dewey Lambdin died July 26 at the age of 76. His books include The King’s Coat and The King’s Privateer.

Former governor of Colorado Richard D. Lamm died July 29 at the age of 85. His books include The Angry West and The Brave New World of Health care.

Journalist and biographer Margaret Hooks died July 19 at the age of 76. Her books include Tina Modotti: Revolutionary, Frida Kahlo, and Surreal Eden.

Clare Dunkel, better known to crime fiction readers under the name Mo Hayder died of Motor Neurone disease on 27 July aged 59. Her novels include the Jack Caffery series starting with Birdman and Tokyo

Graphic designer Reynold Ruffins died July 11 at the age of 90. His works include Running the Road to ABC and My Brother Never Feeds the Cat.

Photographer George Forss died July 17 at the age of 80. He wrote New York, New York: Masterworks of a Street Peddler.

Psychologist Paula J. Caplan died July 21 at the age of 74. Her books include Lifting a Ton of Feathers and They Say You’re Crazy.

Literary agent Lynn c. Franklin died July 19 at the age of 74. She wrote May the Circle be Unbroken:

Mother of Reagan’s would-be assassin Jo Ann Hinckley died July 30 at the age of 95. With her husband Jack she co-authored Breaking Points.

Rock journalist Patricia Kennealy-Morrison died July 23 at the age of 75. Her books include The Throne of Scone, The Copper Crown, andThe Silver Branch.

Jonathan Rinzler, who wrote the bestsellers The Making of Star Wars and The Complete Making of Indiana Jones under the name J.W. Rinzler, died on July 28 at the age of 58 of pancreatic cancer.

Journalist Dawn Foster died July 9 at the age of 34. She wrote Lean Out and Where Will We Live?

UCLA historian Gary B. Nash died July 29 at the age of 88. His books include The Unknown American Revolution and Red, White, and Black.

Novelist Sian James died July 21 at the age of 90. Her books include A Small Country and The Sky Over Wales.

Punjabi and Sikh scholar Darshan Singh Tatla died July 4 at the age of 74. He wrote The Sikh Diaspora.

Ted Lewin, who illustrated and wrote more than 200 children's and YA books, died on July 28 at age 86. Among his many awards was a Caldecott Honor for Peppe the Lamplighter.

Poet Janice Mirikitani died July 29 at the age of 80. Her works include We, the Dangerous and Shedding Silence.

Foreign correspondent Simon Dring died July 16 at the age of 76. He wrote On the Road Again.

Musician and producer Peter Rehberg died July 23 at the age of 53. He wrote Fag Love.

Susan Chitty (Lady Chitty) died 13th July 2021 aged 91. She wrote biographies as well as fiction.

>40 PossMan: Susan Chitty was also the daughter of novelist and translator Antonia White, author of Frost in May and wrote a memoir of her Now to My Mother as well as editing collections of diaries and letters for publication. Some of Chitty's other biographical subjects included Gwen John, Edward Lear and Anna Sewell. I'm not aware of her fiction but will have to look up more information later.

Poet Gerda Mayer died July 15 at the age of 94. Her works include Prague Winter and The Candy-floss Tree.

Publisher Roger Boore died at the age of 83. His books include Popeth Amdana and Marchogion Crwydrol.

Family law specialist Hugh K. Bevan died July 15 at the age of 98. He wrote The Law and Children.

Publisher Nicolas McDowall died July 31 at the age of 85. His books include The Old Stile Press in the Twentieth Century and The Nicolas and Frances McDowall Collection.

Counselor Francesca Inskipp died July 24 at the age of 100. Her books include Skills Training for Counselling and Counselling: The Trainer’s Handbook.

The death of feminist and university administrator Sheila Tobias has only recently been reported. She died July 6, 2021 at the age of 86. Her books include Overcoming Math Anxiety, They’re Not Dumb, They’re Different, and Faces of Feminism.

Historian Corelli Barnett died July 10 at the age of 95. His books include Hitler’s Generals, The Desert Generals and The Sword Bearers.

Mathematician Derek Goldrei has died at the age of 74. His books include Propositional and Predicate Calculus and Classic Set Theory.

Veterinarian Dr. Sam Ridgway died July 10 at the age of 86. His books include The Dolphin Doctor and Handbook of marine Mammals.

Architect Roger Fitzgerald died in July at the age of 63. He wrote Buildings of Britain.
