Fiction. Mystery. HTML:

You don't know him. But he knows you.

Soon he would be able to touch her, to feel the warmth of her blood. And when the time came, nothing would stop him.

As D.C. Jennifer Knight investigates a routine stabbing in the quiet town of Haven, she is shocked at what seems like a personal message from beyond the grave.

When more bodies are found, Jennifer is convinced the killings are somehow linked. What she discovers is more chilling than she could possibly imagine. The murders mirror those of the notorious Grim Reaper - from over twenty years ago. A killer her mother helped convict.

Jennifer can no longer ignore the personal connection. Is there a copycat killer at work? Was the wrong man convicted? Or is there something more sinister at play ...

With her mother's terrifying legacy spiralling out of control, Jennifer must look into her own dark past in a fight not only to stop a killer - but to save herself and those she loves.

A heart-stopping supernatural thriller to engross fans of Rachel Abbott, Paul Finch and James Oswald.

This is a bit of a change from the normal crime books as it features a paranormal element to it. DC Jennifer Knight has ended up working at Haven Police Station. Haven is a bit of a sleepy town but then a series of what Jennifer believes are copycat killings take place. The original killings were carried out by a killer known as The Grim Reaper 20 years earlier.

This is a good read, and I think the paranormal side of the story does work, even if I had to suspend belief a little. I liked Jennifer as a character and can see her developing a lot more in future books. I couldn't see how the book could come to a decent conclusion but then it was very well set up for the next one featuring this detective. I enjoyed the writing style and the relationships between the characters. I didn't find it as chilling as some other readers but I don't in general find myself scared by books. If I was then I think this one would have scared me more than most. A good start to a new series. ( )
