Cute, gentle manga for cat lovers.

As a series that I've followed for years, I'm amazed I never saw the manga and learned how Chi got her name, or how she got her home. I can honestly say this manga is as wholesome as the shows and even jerked a surprise tear from my eyes near the end.

If you love cats and happy stories or just animal stories, you'll love this introductory to a new manga to binge. Chi's not Heathcliff or Garfield or any cat you've read in the normal comic format.

The Complete Chi's Sweet Home, Part 1, follows a mischievous newborn kitten who gets herself separated from her mother and siblings. Overcome with loneliness, she breaks into tears in a park meadow. She is suddenly rescued by a young boy named Yohei and his mother who bring her into the warm and inviting home Yamada family apartment... a place where pets are strictly not permitted.

This collection will appeal to anyone who has had a pet since infancy (though cat lovers especially will enjoy this). I am a huge cat lover, my cat, who I've had for 10.5 years, is my child. This comic is absolutely adorable and filled with cuteness overload. This edition is nearly 480 pages of Chi's cartoon tales and installments of the volume are no more than maybe 8 pages long. The volume can be read in one relaxing setting (like I did), or I can see readers breaking it up to a bit at a time.

I enjoyed all the characters in the series, especially the big black cat, "Blackie". Chi's adoration for him and his "annoyance" of her describes an older car meeting a kitten very well.

Though this book is aimed more towards children, I think anyone would enjoy it. It's a cute and adorable comic/manga collection about a kitten. What's not to love?! ( )

Stinking adorable. This manga about a kitten who is taken in by a young Japanese family is beyond cute. Separated from mama kitty he has to learn the ins and outs of being a "domesticated cat" from his new family and it's a learning curve for everyone. Constantly hiding from the landlady (no pets allowed!), this cute manga is adorable, funny, and will ring true for any cat owners out there. The illustrations are also precious. A cute quick read for all ages! ( )
