This is a wonderfully cute and funny manga style graphic novel, that is fun for all ages. It is read in the traditional American manner (front to back, left to right).

In the last book Chi got lost from his cat family and was adopted into a household of a young family. Things are still a bit tense as the apartment the family lives in is not supposed to have cats. To add to the tension there is a large black bear-like cat that has been causing trouble around the apartment complex, so the landlady has been extra vigilant about cat-related problems.

The illustration throughout this is so hilarious and adorable that it is just a joy to read. Konami captures the facial expressions of the humans and animals just absolutely spot on. The story is easy to follow and very cute.

We get to watch as Chi meets a new cat, suffers another trip to the vet, helps his human daddy have a sick day, and has many other adventures. Yohey, the young boy of the family, and Chi are closer than ever.

Chi finally starts to realize that he is not a human but maybe the same type of creature as this giant black beast that occasionally stops by. Chi still has some flashbacks to his cat family, but you can tell those memories are getting more and more distant as he settles in with Yohey and his family.

Overall this a fantastic read. These books are adorable, hilarious, and really well drawn. If you are a cat lover I recommend picking this series up. It is a wonderful read for all ages and my whole family enjoys it. My seven year old son is already begging me to pick up the next couple volumes of Chi’s Sweet Home from the library. ( )

This volume was good, although I didn't love it quite as much as the first volume. It was interesting to see the difference between Chi and the big black cat: Chi is a very friendly, playful kitten, while the big black cat is more like what people think of when they think of cats, not nearly as attached to humans as Chi is.

Chi has a few cuddling moments that give her vague memories of snuggling with her litter mates and her mother – so sweet! But I also get a little sad when moments like that come up.

Chi's Sweet Home 02 by Kanata Konami continues on with these short comedic episodes about Chi and her new family adjusting.

Chi has been taken in by a family who lives in an apartment with a strict no pets policy. With the appearance of a large black cat, the super is on the prowl. This cat knows his way around and has claimed the entire apartment building as his own. Taken in by Chi's curiosity, he decides to show her some of his tricks.

Along with the near misses with the super, there's the more mundane but equally hilarious parts of owning a cat. Specifically, there's a trip to the vet which includes such fun things like trying to get Chi into a basket, the scary car ride and the actual vet visit.

The Chi books are best suited for anyone who has owned (or been owned by) a cat. The pictures are adorable and the language is easy enough that my first grader can read them. There's also an anime series. ( )
