First, I liked this book because the language had rhyming in it, which is fun to read for children. For example, in the book, it says "Squirrels play, play all day, rabbits hide, and run away, but bears sleep, in winter deep, in a cave, in a heap." This allows children to see rhyming in a book they can read. The rhyming can also help the children understand what is happening in the book. Second, I liked this book because the plot was organized and paced. For example, in the beginning of the book, winter was ending and spring was coming. Then, summer and fall came and the bears would hunt. Finally, winter came again and the bears went back to sleep. This plot was organized because it followed the seasons. The big message of this book is to teach what can happen in seasons with animals. Also, it shows the order of how the seasons are in real life. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

It's simple, charming rhyme follows some American Black bears through the four seasons in a way even small children can understand. Perfect for parents to read to their small children; it is oversize, glossy and has beautiful full page illustrations.
At the end of the book there is a section with facts about the bears for parents to share with the child. And best of all, there is a list of suggested activities for parents and children based on the book. ( )
