1/4/2023: Success! I tried the microwave method explained in the book and made some very tasty (and fairly quick/easy) peanut-butter mochi filled with banana chunks (with a smear of PB) in my own adaptation of the suggested flavor combos. I burned my fingers a little handling the still-cooling mochi dough (be forewarned it will be hort!) and cleaning up the bowl afterwards wasn't easy, but I didn't mind trying to lick the bowl. Would make again, pending a restock of my cupboards.
12/15/2022: I tried the coconut chi chi dango recipe first since it did not require the extra steps of prepping a filling, but I used maybe 2 or 3 too many substitutions and ended up with a tasty but strange half-pudding, half-mochi brownie. Will have to go get the right ingredients and try again..½
