Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten.Not really what I expected. I thought it would be a bit spicier. I was not a fan of Jim’s character and the uneducated way he spoke. Hated the fact that he called Juliet miss teacher lady. It was repetitive! I couldn’t root for their relationship. Overall it entertained me but it wasn’t my favorite.

I enjoyed how quotes from Shakespeare were woven into the story but it was used too often to help us know the characters. The secondary plot with the former student did not add anything to the story and was confusing at times. The reader needed more backstory about what was going on - it felt like there had been a book before this one that had that story in it.

This is a case of an interesting idea with not so great execution. The writing was repetitive, the dialogue was clunky, and there were still a few loose, unexplained threads after the story concluded. I loved the idea of an older Sapphic couple solving mysteries, and the set-up for the story was intriguing. I wish it'd been better edited.… (meer)
