A collection of essays written by Friends who were asked to describe how their spiritual values worked to influence their reaction to any matter of public concern that interested them personally. When brought together in this anthology, they show a diversity both in content and style, but more interestingly there is revealed a common thread running through them reminding us that ideals require constant scrutiniy and a questioning of the conventions of secrecy and openness. We should—in the words of Damaris Parker-Rhodes- regard truth as a path, not a possession. There are no definitive answers, but it is hoped that Friends and others may find this assembly of viewpoints both helpful and informative.
