I enjoyed this romance though, I don't agree with a lot of the decisions this couple made. I pulled this from a small TBR pile and have no idea where it came from. This is not for the under 18 readers and I've given it a 4.5* rating. This is centered in Australia and about being couples and relationships. It has a little bit of action and works around upper and lower classes to stir it up. It does have a HEA at the end.½

Pretty good marriage in peril story. I liked the way the heroine was real clear what was going on with her husband and had a plan to fix it. The plan went awry put at least she wasn't a helpless ninny and eventually over the course of the book she got the hero to pay attention and realize what he'd been doing to her. She also grew and learned more about her husband and together they worked it out. Solid read.

Decent story of a couple working to make a marriage succeed. Not a lot of OTT conflict.

An oddly paced book. There wasn't a lot of conflict in it. They meet, fall in love and then he sets up their wedding and hopes she shows up. Ultimately not really riveting.

3-1/2 stars.
Fun little love at first sight thing. It was more than just attraction more of a cosmic thing. The hero even asks the heroine to leave her husband and run away with him. She doesn't though, don't worry. The scenes with the two of them were pretty intense and I wish there had been more of those scenes. There were an awful lot of scenes with other people though that distracted from the romance. Still worth reading for HP fans though.

Read The Secret Mistress. Readable but only just. It was too melodramatic and maudlin for me.

There was not actually a whole lot about fatherhood here. This was a story that took place in about a week and a half which was okay since these two had know each other for 5 years. He had been in love with her throughout her entire marriage to his best friend and this was basically them sorting out their relationship now that she is a widow, so the time frame works. It was pretty well written. There were times when I really didn't like her so well but she did seem realistic as to how she responded to things. And he was great in that he was so in love with her.

This one was different. It started when the hero finds out that he was lied to about the heroine sleeping around 6 years ago. The book takes place over the next 9 months as he persuades her to forgive him and to take a chance and marry him. It would have scored higher but the focus of the book was not really on their relationship but rather on the problems that they had as a couple with his father who was the one who broke them up and who would still not accept her as his son's wife. I did like that the hero was so adamant that he was totally on the heroine's side and willing to give up everything to have her. But it lost points for things like we never even saw the scene where he finally convinces her to marry him, but rather we find out about it when he tells his father about it. I just prefer the focus, especially of an HP, to be on the couple at all times.

Wow, I so didn't see in this what everyone else seemed to. The writing style was choppy and distracting. The baby was written as way too old. A few cases in point: a one week old nursing baby's messy diaper doesn't stink. By that point they are barely making messy diapers and not to be too graphic but it isn't the same sort of end result as a 6 month old baby who has started some solid food makes. Another thing: the baby responds by imitating the sounds her father makes during that 1st or 2nd week and watches everything with interest. Right...

The hero and heroine seemed one dimensional and I totally did not feel any love between them other than the author telling me they were in love. Plus for a story all about who loves the baby best, there was a whole lot of leaving the baby in her carrier rather than holding her. For example it was just odd that when they brought the baby home from the hospital the first time the heroine, who was so anxious that the baby be loved, went in to make tea since she wasn't needed to put the baby in bed. WTF? I know from personal experience that new mothers are pretty damn proprietary about their newborns. Add in that she would want to see the baby in the crib and all that she evidently had lovingly picked out and set up for her and she let the hero whom she didn't trust to care about the child go set her down in the bedroom in her car carrier? What...?

A fairly different HP. Hero sees heroine and immediately sets out to get her even though she is engaged to another man. Hero is not an ass just sure that the heroine is his soul mate. We have POV from both H and h so we see him all along chasing her as hard as he can. Pretty well written, plot made sense and flowed nicely. There wasn't a big breakup just before the end which as different and another odd thing: neither one tells the other that they love each other until the epilogue even though they sort of skirt around the knowledge.

The description of this book here on GoodReads is not what's on the back of the volume I have. The hero of this book is named Richard, Jeremy is the 'other man'. The heroine is very moral and stands up for herself vociferously although she is a bit of a drama queen. The hero pussy foots around her a bit because she is so rigid. The end becomes just a bit muddled but is in the same vein of the heroine stridently standing up for herself. Interesting to read just to see her slap the bad guy and tell the good guy off at the top of her voice in public. I liked it. Maybe 3-1/2 stars really

Fairly decent fairly typical HP. He was not nearly as ruthless as the blurb makes him seem. She was a nice girl, not a wimp but she went along with his plan because he convinced her that it was the best course. The characterization of the heroine was particularly well done. There were scenes from both the heroine's and the hero's POV. He was a decent enough guy who was controlling and trying to make his grandfather's last days pleasant. He just happened to fall in lust with her. I did feel like his true love for her was a bit sudden and since it happened while not in his POV, I wasn't sure I really trusted it. Still a pleasant enough way to pass an evening.

Oh the melodrama! Everyone else is reading this so I thought I'd give it a whirl too. Improbable and goofy fun. He's in love within two minutes. It all happens within 2 and a half days. It was like watching one of those books where you flip the pages to make a little scene happen. Brrrip and it's done! Lots of angsty declarations of desire and love. A fun way to spend a hour or so.

Pretty standard HP fare. They meet when she's married to another man who promptly drowns while swimming off the hero's boat. Hero convinces heroine to marry him. His mother causes grief by setting her up to see the hero with an old flame. There's a pregnancy yada yada. Nice but not exceptional.

I really enjoyed this book, there is no cheating just a hopeful other woman. He is busy with work and keeps her separate to that part of his life which drives a wedge between then. The grandmother and Harry are fabulous extra characters. I would have liked to witness some sort of show down between Niki/ The husband and the wife rather than the outcome retold.

Heroine Elizabeth Flippence has been crazy about her boss (Michael Finn) for two years but Michael only sees her as his secretary. It is Elizabeth's thirtieth birthday and she decides it's time for a change to finally attract Michael. She gets her hair cut and dyed auburn, puts on gorgeous new clothes, goes to work and tries to impress Michael and get him to notice her. It seems like her prayers are answered when he asks her out for a birthday lunch. But right when it's time to go to lunch her knockout sister Lucy shows up and Michael only has eyes for her. Michael's brother (hero Harry) arrives and they make it a foursome. At lunch, Harry notices how awkward Elizabeth is feeling and suggests she work for him for a month at the posh Finn Island Resort as his stand-in manager. Elizabeth accepts since she isn't looking forward to going back to work for Michael when he is clearly besotted with her sister. But what will she do when Michael and Lucy arrive on the island for a visit?

This was a disappointing read. The story didn't grab my attention and was somewhat boring. Harry had been attracted to Elizabeth for a long time and grabbed his opportunity to romance her, but I didn't like how he expected Elizabeth to sleep with him on her first day there on the island. I also wasn't thrilled with Elizabeth's stipulation that she'd only sleep with Harry if it was in the same villa/bed that Lucy and Michael would be sleeping in when they arrived on the island. I didn't feel the love between Elizabeth and Harry. And things happened too fast in this book. Lucy has her own story in the follow-up "Legendary Finn Brothers" book in the series but I'm not interested in reading it since I didn't care for Lucy.

This story is about a man with divided loyalties and a vivacious young, dedicated young woman who values family above all else.

The ruthlessness and calculating behavior of Tareq was a bit off-putting at first until you get more info from his backstory. Sarah drove me nuts because she was a "doormat" and naive to the point of being scary.

I almost put the book down until she had an "omg" moment and the story changed. After that, it was all good.

Despite their flaws, the pairing worked well and the ending was satisfactory.

Would I recommend this book? Yes.
