A surprisingly winning collection of well-written thrillers for children. The book contains six stories, "The Cat-Dogs" by Susan Price, "The Piano" by Diane Hoh, "The Devil's Footprints" by Malcolm Rose, "Softies" by Stan Nicholls, "The House that Jack Built" by Garry Kilworth, and "The Station with No Name" by Colin Greenland. Darker than much adult horror, each story comes in around 30 pages and the collection delivers consistently, something that most collections in the genre struggle to do. This is well-worth picking up if you're looking for something light or have a child who's into horror.… (meer)
