Jacques Jouet, My Beautiful Bus (French Literature Series). Dalkey Archive Press (2013), Paperback. This commences with a distinction between road signs that convey messages pictorially such as Beware deer running across the road and those such as Mud on road or No dumping that have no illustration. The text then moves to observations by Pascal and the story of a bus, illustrated on the front cover but not actually revealing from the outside all the functions of the bus. The book becomes a vehicle for conveying the essence of a bus, a vehicle for a vehicle in itself so to speak and ultimately the book becomes a vehicle, the bus itself. I fell asleep on a train while reading this.½

Oulipo Laboratory: Texts from the Bibliotheque Oulipienne (Anti-Classics of Dada.) I bought this for the text by Jacques Jouet. He's the metro poet - writes poems between or while trains are stopped at metro stations. I didn't quite get The great-ape love song, however.
