The Christmas story from the perspective of the littlest angel, who (with his little angel friends) tags along behind Gabriel as Gabriel visits Mary and Joseph before, during and after Jesus' birth.

The book is certainly different. A very different approach to religious fiction. The story starts in a training school for guardian angels, the number of which has had to increase to keep pace with population growth on earth. The sense of humour is good and the book is thoroughly enjoyable.

I’m afraid I’m hard to please when it comes to Bible-story books. Too many kid books skip important parts of the story, or get the focus all wrong. The Walls That Fell Down Flat is fairly good, though. It stays true to the original, adding only such commentary as is probably necessary for understanding the story. The language is simple, but vivid. In fact, it’s good enough that I’m willing to forgive the cartoonish drawings and the obnoxious font-size changes--features my kids either don’t notice or don’t mind. Overall, not a bad book.
