This a very quick read for absolute beginners. It is clearly directed at students, many of whom do not know how to take notes. If you have you ever looked at your students' notes, you know what I'm talking about.
So, this book concisely presents the different methods of note-taking (outline, Cornell, charting, visual) as well as a series of checklists that students should use. It also goes through taking notes on lectures, books, chapters, and articles.
However, as the authors themselves acknowledge, note-taking is a skill. It takes practice. No book can cover that.
This is an extremely quick read that could have been a website or a brief workshop, to be honest. I'm not sure it was worth a whole book. I'd have a hard time asking students to spend money on this.
