Tangled Up In Tinsel (Sunshine Creek Vineyard) by Candis Terry
Family is about good times, hard heads and unbreakable bonds.  Someone to have your back, even at your worst moments.  The Kincade brothers embody the good, the bad and the hilarious with a great deal of love thrown in for good measure. Tangled Up In Tinsel is Parker's turn to lose his head and misplace his heart at the feet of a frustratingly, stubborn woman. She has something to prove, and for the first time, he wants to take a risk. Candis Terry can dish up delicious temptation and forever leave me begging for more.

ARC Review: Perfect For You (Sunshine Creek Vineyard) by Candis Terry

Candis Terry is a one click author for me. She is perfect escapism reading. Her characters never take themselves too seriously and despite that, her novels manage to appeal to the heart, stimulate the hormones and continuously fall into the irresistible category. Though not as emotional as Jordan and Lucy's journey of mistakes and regret in A Better Man, Perfect for You has it's moment of unforgettable. Brooke and Declan's story is more about living life to the fullest than dwelling on past regrets. Brooke is a risk taker. She knows what she wants and when it matters most, has no problem with asserting herself. Declan can learn a thing or to from this firecracker. The ability to get out of your head for a while is reason enough to give this author a try.

There are so many things we take for granted. Young people believe they are invincible and can conquer whatever life throws at them. I think everyone believes that those they love are indestructible as well. We know in our hearts these things are figments of our imagination but feel if we hope long enough and pray hard enough that it will become a reality. Jordan is just like every other person. He had big dreams and he made some of them come true but lost sight of the people that mattered. I received an ARC of A Better Man in exchange for an honest review. I loved how Ms. Terry contrasted between the man that he was and the one he wanted to become. The people around him served two fold purposes to challenge him and to remind him of what he left behind. The reason that these characters and this scenario touched my heart most of all is that the decisions Jordan made in his past set him on the path to accepting his future. They taught him lessons that allowed him to mature and that is what made him a better man.

TRULY SWEET IS OUT NOW!

TRULY SWEET BY CANDIS TERRY
SYNOPSIS

When the one you've always wanted . . .

At sixteen, Annabelle Morgan hoped her crush on Jake Wilder was just a passing phase. Now she's twenty-nine and nothing has changed—except Jake. The once-carefree Marine has come home with a giant chip on his shoulder. He insists a single mom like Annie deserves more than he can offer. Yet no matter how gruff his gorgeous exterior may be, Jake's toe-curling kisses convince her that this attraction is definitely mutual.

Becomes the one who wants you back . . .

Butting heads with feisty Annie was always a thrill. Add other body parts to the mix, and Jake is in serious trouble. He can't be a forever-and-family guy—and Annie's not a friends-with-benefits kind of woman. But love has a way of changing the best-laid plans, and surrender has never been so tempting . . .

The outcome is truly sweet.

Tangled Up in Tinsel combines two of my favorite things: Christmas and cooking. I loved reading all the delicious foods Gabi and Parker whip up, and the back of the book even has recipes for some of the more notable recipes Gabi makes in the novel. Can you say ‘Yes please’?

This novel ran a little hotter than my typical reads, opening with some panty-melting level attraction between the two leads right from chapter one. There is plenty of witty banter between the leading fella (Parker) and lady (Gabriella, aka Gabby), liberally sprinkled with the obligatory bad timing and misunderstandings. Toward the end it got a little repetitive with both of them playing the same insecurities over and over on a loop, especially Parker. I did appreciate that they both have elements of their past that are causing some bumpy roads in their present, and that they are so in synch that is causes some problems because their issues are also similar. I feel like a lot of contemporary romance relies heavily on the opposites attract trope, so it was a refreshing change to see two leads both so passionate about creating wonderful food.

Charli Brooks arrives in Sweet, TX with a plan to do a makeover on the small town for her TV show. She plans to change everthing about this town, including Reno Wilder. Reno is an ex-marine who likes things just the way they are, structured and predicable. Will they allow the friction between them drive them apart or will it just add to their out of control chemestry?

Perfect For You is pretty much that if you’re looking for a smart romantic diversion. Candis Terry is a new-to-me author, but one who I will definitely be looking forward to reading more of in the future.

Both Declan and Brooke are interesting, fully realized characters with a lot of backstory. But it’s only Declan who changes during the course of the novel as he realizes his feelings for Brooke and how he’s compartmentalized his emotions in order to succeed professionally.

Another Hit! PERFECT FOR YOU is book 2 in author Candis Terry's Sunshine Creek Vineyard series. PERFECT FOR YOU is brother Declan's story. This is almost a friends to lovers story, in that Brooke and Declan are friends to a point. They work together. Brooke is Declan's assistant, so it is a co-workers romance but not a trite one. If you haven't read the first book in the series, A BETTER MAN, don't worry you won't be lost. You will want to read that book, mostly because you'll fall in love with these brothers. Declan is "workaholic" of the brothers, but honestly all of them are workaholics. They are all still dealing with the death of their parents and now Declan's world is thrown even more out of focus by his "new" feelings for his assistant Brooke. Brooke meanwhile has always been attracted to Declan but she's kept those feelings under control and hidden. Now she's wondering if it's time to shake thing up for Declan and make him start to enjoy life. I loved watching these two come to terms with their emotions and how those emotions will affect their lives. I loved watching Declan unbend just a bit and actually deal with his feelings. Watching these two come together was such fun. I loved the setting, I loved the secondary characters, I loved everything about it. Fans of great contemporary romances with well written realistic characters and engaging story-lines will fall in love with this series and especially PERFECT FOR YOU. I highly recommend this one to all fans of excellent love stories. The characters aren't perfect but they are perfect for each other!

Terrific story of family, love and second chances. Jordan left his home and family behind at the age of eighteen, when he was drafted to play professional hockey. This had been his dream for many years, and it took precedence in his life. Everything came crashing down when he got a call from his oldest brother, telling him that their parents had been killed in an accident while on vacation.

I ached for Jordan when he got home. Thanks to his concentration on his career, he had spent little time with his family over the last fifteen years. He realizes that he doesn't know them anymore, and they don't really know him. The shock of his parents' death brings home to him the importance of his family to his life, and he is determined to make amends. I loved seeing him make it clear to the family that he is "all in". He offers to take on the challenge of finding out what has turned their little sister, Nicole, into what he calls a "baby dragon". This brings him in contact with one of her teachers, Lucy Diamond.

Lucy is Nikki's creative writing teacher. She is sweet and caring, a little bit vulnerable, but with an inner strength she doesn't realize she has. Lucy also has a history with Jordan. Back when they were in high school, she tutored him for one of his classes. At the time, he was a typical teenage jock - cocky, selfish, and quite the heartbreaker. She had a crush on him, but was concentrating on her studies as a way to get away from her dysfunctional parents. She resisted Jordan's advances until she finally agreed to go to their graduation dance with him, only to have him stand her up. She has never forgotten or truly forgiven him for that. She came back to Sunshine after a disastrous marriage and having taken a hit to her trust of men and her own instincts. She wants to help Nikki, but not get mixed up with Jordan again.

I loved the progress of the relationships in the book, both between Jordan and Lucy, and between Jordan and his family, especially Nicole. From the start, Jordan knew that he had screwed up with Lucy back in high school. I loved the way he admitted it right up front and had the class to apologize even after all these years. Even better was the way he made amends for that. He went to a lot of effort and it was fun to see it all happen from start to finish. I liked how Jordan asked for her help with Nikki, and how their work together brought them closer in their relationship. It was fun to see the buildup of the heat between them, and awesome to see Jordan's patience and understanding as he learned about her marriage and its effect on her. I liked seeing him go from self-professed playboy to thinking about Lucy as a permanent part of his life. He was a little freaked out by his feelings at the beginning, but really came to embrace them. Lucy had a hard time believing that he was really interested in her. She spent some time thinking that it was just a fling between them, and even that was a surprise to her. She was puzzled at times about how she could be falling for a man who was so different from her. Her confidence took a hit at the game she went to and she had an encounter with one of the groupies. I loved seeing Jordan's reaction to her trying to pull away. There was also a great scene involving the local newspaper that showed Lucy's growing confidence in herself and how much she cares for Jordan. The ending was great, and I loved Jordan's big moment.

His relationships with his family were a bit complicated. Because he had been away for so long, with infrequent visits, he felt like he had lost his connection with them. I ached for him as he looked at them and realized what he had done by staying away. I loved that there didn't seem to be any real resentment from his brothers, all of them understood the importance of his career to him. That was especially obvious when each of them showed up to keep him company as he watched his team play on television. However, that acceptance didn't extend to his sister. Nikki's teenage attitude and anger, especially at him, confused the heck out of him. I loved the way it didn't stop him from trying. He was not going to give up, and with Lucy's help he started to get through to her. I really enjoyed his decision to take her along when he had to return to work. The scenes at the practice and the game were great. I also loved seeing his support of her when she finally told him what was bothering her. I loved seeing the effect it all had on Jordan and the way he viewed his future. He had some important decisions to make, and I loved watching him work it all out.

There were a couple of questions running through the book that didn't really get answered, so I expect they will also run through the other books in the series. One question was who was responsible for the money missing from the business? Aunt Pippy behaves oddly whenever the subject comes up, but does she know anything? When they discover who, the question becomes why? Another question comes from Nicole and explains some of her angst during the book. An argument with her father before he left on the vacation has her wondering if there's something no one has told her. Telling her brothers brings no resolution, just disbelief and more questions. Then there is the fact that the business is in trouble, and they are all needed to help turn it around. I liked the sharing of ideas and am looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Good book. Allison has come to Sweet to check out the woman her father plans to marry. Her parents' marriage hadn't been a good one, and she wants to make sure he isn't making another mistake. On her arrival in town, she spends a little time in the local bar, where she meets a super sexy cowboy. Jesse is the local vet and is at the bar with his brother. He has a reputation as the town playboy. He notices Allison right away, including the heat that flares up between them.

I loved their first meeting, as Jesse "rescues" his engaged brother from the advances of the beautiful stranger. There's some serious flirting going on between them, and Jesse is ready to take it to the next level when she leaves him high and dry. Both of them get quite a shock the next day when they discover that his mom is engaged to her dad.

I liked Allison. She is a wedding planner who is quite cynical about love. Her parents' marriage was a bust, mostly due to her mother's selfishness. She has also seen many of the "love matches" she has done the weddings for end up in divorce. She is very wary of the whole Wilder crew when she meets them, finding it hard to believe that they are for real. She is protective of her father and doesn't want to see him hurt. I enjoyed seeing her watch the interactions between all the Wilders. For all of her cynicism about marriage, when Reno and Charli's wedding runs into some snags, she steps in to help. This puts her into further contact with Jesse, who is determined to change her mind about the existence of true love.

Jesse is fantastic. In the previous books, he is the brother with all the good advice. He helps his brothers through their relationship woes, while avoiding the same for himself. In this book we learn that he has a reason for that, which involves a promise made to his oldest brother who was killed in action a short time later. He feels it is his responsibility to make sure that they all have their happy endings before he can allow himself to look for his own. Jared has been a presence in all the books so far, as his place in the family is never forgotten.

I loved the development of their relationship. It starts out simply, with Jesse determined to change Allison's mind about love. He doesn't have any intention of falling for her himself. It doesn't take him long to see the soft center inside her hard candy shell. It was sweet watching him bring out the softer side of her. At the same time, Allison begins to see that there is much more to Jesse than his public image as a playboy. She senses the conflict that he is going through and encourages him to share it with someone before it eats him up. As they grew closer, the attraction also heated up, until they couldn't resist any longer. Allison slowly begins to realize that not only is true love real, she is developing those feelings for Jesse. He is a bit slower to admit it to himself, and only after being on the receiving end of the same advice he gave his brothers. But it isn't an easy road to his dream of what could be when a crisis sends Allison back to Seattle and her fears come roaring back. I loved seeing how being around the Wilders changed her way of looking at things, and the effect it had on her handling of the crisis. Jesse had his own "aha" moment, thanks to his mom and brother. I loved his big moment at the end.

I loved the close relationship among all the Wilders and how they are there for each other. It was great to see how they absorbed Allison into the group with such ease. It made it very easy for Allison to want to help with the wedding issues. I loved the teasing among the brothers, but also how they had no problem getting serious when it was required. Their reactions when Jesse finally opened up were great.

I also enjoyed the various characters in the town of Sweet. The two old ladies were quite a trip, especially when they were around Jesse. It was great to see how so many of them got involved when Allison needed help to rescue the wedding from disaster.

I have really been into the Sweet Series with the Wilder boys, but this is finally the book I have been waiting for!
So this is a story about Fiona. So if you don’t remember Fiona, she is Jackson ex-wife and the mother to Izzy. You would think she would be bitter, but NO! Jackson, Abby (his fiancée) and Fiona are great friends, which is a marvelous change and as a reader it’s wonderful not to have a snarky and hateful ex-wife in the background.
Anyway, back to the story. Fiona is has moved to Sweet to open a cupcake store and so Izzy could be near her father. But Fiona has also made resolutions for herself, they are to make her cupcake store a success and to put naughty Fiona away and find a man that truly loves HER and not just loves her like a friend. But before Fiona even manages to get her cupcake store open, Fiona is caught in a nasty car crash, but luckily Mr. Tall, Dark and Delicious aka Mike Halsey (firefighter and best friend of her ex) comes to the rescue.
Mike is drawn to Fiona like a bee to a flower, but boy! Does the man have some serious baggage! He also is living by the man code; Thou must not covert thy friends Wife/Girl/Ex/Sister, but that doesn’t stop the desire, every time they are in the same room.
After a shaky start, things go smoothly for these love birds, until the past rears its ugly head and family responsibilities threaten to destroy all they have.
Wow, what a book! I cannot even describe too you how sweet and divine this book is! It is honestly my dream sweet romance should be. The writing is flawless, plot hole free and so, so smooth it just flows of the page. So after all that gushing I am delighted to give Sweet Surprise 10 out of 10.

So I think this maybe the last book of the Sweet series…though I hope with a passion that it never ends…Sorry Candis Terry.
So we are finally at Jake Wilder’s story and I am thrilled! No literally! I am jumping up and down excited!! But he is not the only hero I fall in love with in this book! Trust me, once you meet Hank!! You will fall in love to.
Jake Wilder is back in Sweet, after the Marines gave him an honorable discharge, whether he wanted it or not. He is still struggling with his leg and his mind has trapped him in a hell, where he feels that he is not good enough anymore and he let his men down and he not only lost his own brother to this war. But he lost them men under his command, especially his brother from another mother Eli. To add to the guilt, Eli’s wife was pregnant and Eli would never get to see his baby, and in Jake’s mind, that was his entire fault. But that’s not Jake’s only problem! Oh no! Jake’s other issue is a little Spitfire named Annie!
But life had not been kind to Annie. To begin with she had parents who would abandon her at a moment’s notice. Add to that an ex who ran the moment she told him she was pregnant! So she returned to Sweet and made a life herself and her son Max. But then Jake walked back into her life and sparks flew light a lightning rod in a thunderstorm…but where will they go from here!
This book is truly amazing! It stole my heart, broke it and made it even better! Yes! That’s right! That is just how good the plot is! The characters are amazing, the writing is smooth and you just can’t help but fall in love with everyone. I just add a plea! That Peter Castlewood gets his own story! He needs it, I need it! I don’t think the Wilder Family would be complete without it.
So after all of that, I give Truly Sweet a well-deserved 10 out of 10!

So the amazing Ms. Candis Terry has written another Sweet Texas story, but this one a novella.

This is Army Ranger Lieutenant Aiden Marshall's story. He has returned from the sands of Afghanistan to the pastures and longhorns steers of Sweet Texas. But he also was coming back after losing his friends to IED's and forced to abandon the dog that he has raised from a puppy. He has decided things must change, starting with the one women, he has to say goodbye to...Paige Walker

Paige has been in love with Aiden for years and has waited for him to come back to Sweet, for years. But now he is back, saying words that she doesn't want to hear or accept. So she start a campaign not only to keep him is her life, but also to bring his dog back to him. But will it work?

Such a sweet story that I loved from the beginning and so far this has become my most favorite Sweet Tx story. It was very well written and well researched.

I give Home Sweet Home 10 out of 10

Wow! This series is SO good and this particular book is simply delicious! I honestly haven't found one thing about this book I did not like. Family friendly with just a hint of drama and steamy love!
So basically Allison comes to Sweet to check out her Dad's new fiancé, Allison wants to make sure that she is 1. Not a gold digger and 2. Not like her cold hearted mother. She meets Jesse at the local bar the night before the big families meet and greet and boy did sparks fly! But then Allison ditches him at the bar. But boy do both of them get a shock the next day! I am going to leave it there as I don't want to spoil the story.
Such a great book, DO NOT BE WITH OUT TISSUES! Because there were parts of this book, that simply reduced me to tears. Be prepared for family secrets, distrust, bad boy reputations and snarky bimbo's.
So other than the story being phenomenal, the writing was smooth, I found no plot holes, and by the end of the book, I was scrambling to read the whole series!
This book earns 10 out of 10 from me, because it’s a super-hot and sweet read.

Candis Terry scores with A Better Man. Carolina Vipers forward Jordan Kincade returns to Sunshine Valley after his parents’ death. He regrets losing the bond he once had with his family and reevaluates his priorities, which include helping his younger sister, Nicole, graduate from school. He needs the help from her teacher, Lucy Diamond, the girl whose heart he broke fifteen years ago.

Candis Terry does a great job with her character development. I like Jordan. He was focused on nothing but the NHL his entire life. He realizes that he has missed his family, and that he has no idea what he wants to do after hockey. He wants to do right by his family, especially his little sister who he felt like he barely knew. Lucy is a caring individual who has gone through a lot, never having family she could count on. She is the kind of teacher you would have loved to have and would want your kids to experience. We discover a lot about what is going on with Nicole throughout the story. She transforms immensely and is a sweet girl. I also, enjoyed the rest of the Kincade brothers. They are very different individuals, that you can tell care about one another.

I enjoyed the plot. It had me crying more than once. I loved Jordan’s and Lucy’s first date. Jordon is very creative. He comes up with great suggestions to help the vineyard. A number of unexpected, yet believable, things happened throughout the story. A Better Man is a wonderful start to the Sunshine Creek Vineyard Series.

Terrific ending to the Sweet, Texas series. This is the story of Jake, the youngest of the Wilder boys. Like his brothers before him, Jake joined the Marines and expected to make a career of it. Instead, he was injured in a mission that went wrong, losing his best friend in the same battle. Now he's home, trying to pick up the pieces of his life, but sinking under the crushing guilt he feels over his friend's death. The last thing he expects is to start seeing his old friend Annie as the beautiful woman she is.

Annie has had a crush on Jake since she was sixteen. Even leaving Sweet for a few years did nothing to reduce her feelings for him. Now she's back in Sweet, with a toddler son and trying to get her own life back together. Jake's return brings back all her old fantasies about him.

I loved the relationship between Jake and Annie. They had been friends when they were younger, able to talk to each other about anything. As they got older the relationship changed, as Jake got a bit on the wild side and Annie had no trouble calling him out when he was being a jerk. Annie hates the changes she's seen in him since he got back, but refuses to coddle him. Jake has always seen her as just his friend until his first encounter with her after his return. Suddenly he sees her as a woman and his attraction to her freaks him out.

I hurt for Jake as his guilt over his friend's death has affected the way he looks at his life now. Before it happened, he was a fun loving guy who loved his family, was great with kids, and had plans for his future. Now, every time he's around kids all he can think about is that his friend is not going to see his child grow up. Jake is so eaten up with guilt that he hasn't even been able to visit his friend's widow, and that makes him feel even worse. He's attracted to Annie and could have feelings for her if he'd allow it, but feels that he's too broken to give her what she deserves. Fortunately for him, she's not ready to give up on him.

I loved Annie. In spite of all the things that have gone wrong in her life she refuses to give in to it. She is determined to be a good mother to Max and give him the best life she can. She also doesn't put up with any crap from Jake. She can see that he is hurting and challenges him to take control of his life. She can also see that he is just as attracted to her as she is to him.

I enjoyed seeing the changes in their relationship. Jake is, at first, more interested in just the physical attraction to Annie, but also realizes that she's not booty call material. Annie wants him just as much as he wants her, but isn't going to settle for less than she feels she deserves. I really enjoyed seeing how she knew just when to push Jake and when to back off to make him see what he needed to do. There were several fantastic examples of this, my favorite being when she talked him into going to the animal shelter to look at dogs. Eventually her love for him gave Jake the confidence to face his demons. His visit with his friend's widow was incredibly emotional. I loved his big moment at the end when he was finally able to offer all of himself to Annie.

I also loved the closeness of the Wilder family. All of the guys served their time in the Marines, and each one was affected by it. This gave them another bond with each other because each understood what the others had experienced. I really enjoyed the teasing that went on with the knowledge that serious support was always available if needed. One of my favorite characters was the Wilder's mother, Jana. With the experience of raising all those boys she had a wonderful way of cutting through the testosterone and making her point. It was lovely to see her get her own happy ending. There was an unexpected surprise on her wedding day and it was heartwarming to see the effect it had on everyone.

The more he gets to know her the more he likes but her feelings on love and marriage might be hard to overcome. This is definitely a great one and I definitely recommend it.

A great beginning to a fun new series. The small town of Sweet, Texas has all the quirky characters and quaintness needed to keep things interesting. In this book Charli rolls in to town to give Sweet an update and runs headfirst into Reno Wilder aka Mr. Grumpy. Sparks fly, arguments commence and love grows. This one has to go on the very top of the MUST read pile.

Good story about two people who are trying to put past mistakes behind them and move on with their lives. Fiona is a single mom who is determined to get it right this time. She's left her party girl ways behind her and has opened a cupcake shop. She's divorced from Jackson, but they are still friends and good parents to their daughter, Izzy. She's got a lot going on and a new relationship is way down on her list of things she wants.

Mike is Jackson's best friend and has been attracted to Fiona for awhile. But getting involved with her would be against the "man code" so he tries to keep his distance. Thanks to some meddling by Jackson's mom, Mike finds himself committed to helping Fiona get her shop ready for business, something that puts quite a strain on his self control.

I loved seeing this relationship develop. Fiona starts out resisting her attraction to Mike. She's looking for a man who wants the same thing she does - commitment, family, someone who will love her for herself, and she doesn't think that Mike is that man. Mike starts out thinking the same way. He's attracted to Fiona, but he doesn't do relationships. His family life has made him reluctant to risk his heart, but he can't stay away from Fiona. The fire between them gets hotter as Mike helps her prepare her store for opening, but Fiona doesn't want to repeat past mistakes. Though it was hard for her to do, I loved seeing how she explained her needs to Mike and stood strong for them. It gave Mike a lot to think about, and I really liked seeing him really think about his past and what he wants for his future.

It was sweet to see them get to know each other. The heat was there, but they kept it under control as the focused on other things. There were some great scenes of them doing ordinary things like cooking dinner and taking Izzy to the zoo, all things that show Fiona that Mike is everything she wants. There are also some serious discussions, including Mike opening up about his family and what they have been through. Things are moving along well when those same family issues crop up again and Mike has to go off and deal with them. Mike realizes that he has to decide what will have priority in his life, and if he can really be everything that Fiona needs. I loved the ending, and Mike's surprise for Fiona and Izzy was really romantic and adorable.

The secondary characters of the Wilder family and Fiona's friend Sabrina were all wonderful. I loved the closeness of the family and how, even though they were divorced, Fiona was still considered part of them. Jana Wilder, the boys' mother, was pretty awesome with her successful matchmaking ways. I really enjoyed the way that she got Mike to help Fiona. You could definitely tell she had ulterior motives. The others were all there to support Fiona with her business and help her when she needed it. I also loved how Fiona's friend Sabrina helped her see that she was pushing away something that could end up being very good for her. I liked the friendship she had with Fiona and would love to see her get her own story.

First Thought when Finished: Sweet Surprise by Candis Terry was a sweet little contemporary romance with just a bit of heat. I liked the characters and the story. The leads were a little "too much hung up on their issues" for me (aka I didn't quite by their personal push/pull issues) but otherwise totally enjoyable read! One that I would recommend. Also one I think most people would have total fun with. In other words, read it!

This story was good enough to finish but I thought the couple was rather pathetic. The heroine had very little self-esteem and let herself become a doormat. I never really believed the hero's reason for divorce. Abby returns to hometown after a divorce and old flame firefighter Jackson soon stops by to see her.
