This book describes a cruise from Seattle or Vancouver along the coast to Seward Alaska. With maps and descriptions of things to look for along the way. Wish I had had this book when we took our trip. We visited Skagway, Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau and Glacier bay along the way, all described in this book..

If you are thinking about an Alaska cruise, this is the book you want. It's not only filled with details of what to expect, it is full of anecdotes. The map is particularly useful when following your cruise. It really enhanced the enjoyment of our cruise (July 2015).

Also, if you can't go on a cruise, this book makes a good virtual tour.

Seattle to Skagway, there's a lot of BC coast as well as Alaskan and this book covers it all, mile by mile. Much supplemental material including guides to wildlife, types of boats, artists and galleries.

I have had this book since it first came out in I think 1976. I was just consumed by it when I got it for Christmas that year. In fact for several years after I read it over again each year. If you have any interest in Alaska, commercial fishing etc find a copy of this book. It may be out of print, but I am certain that you will be able to find a used copy on abe.com.
