I plan to re-read this book. I loved it when I first read it and I have held on to it for nearly 20 years now. I can't wait to have my children read it -- I hope it helps shape their actions toward themselves and others.

A portable fitness program using three-pound dumbells. This workout will tone your muscles.

It emphasizes bone-building, which is one of the primary reasons I exercise. I looked it over and it seemed like the exercises were much easier than what I had been doing, but I decided to give them a try. I modified them to make the workout a little harder, and I could really feel it. It seemed like I was working the same muscles I usually do, but when I was done I could feel that I had been working out, so I figure it's working the muscles a little differently. I have added it to my rotation of workout routines.½

The book seems good -though my gut is not busted. Not sure if the problem lies with me or with the book. The book offers a realistic approach to exercise that is not complicated and is accessible to almost anyone - requiring little or no special equipment.½

Weight training for women. The title is awful: if you are 50 pounds overweight, 24 days of workouts will definitely start you on your way to fitness, but you will have to continue for longer than that in order to resemble the author's photo on the cover.

The author discusses facts and old wives' tales, describes how to do each of the basic exercises, and explains how to conduct a weight training workout in a way that will provide aerobic benefits.

The basic routines offered here can be done in any health club, at home with minimal equipment, even in most poorly-equipped (and poorly-named) hotel fitness centers. I like to alternate this with workouts from Vedral's other books.

Another book on women's weight training from Joyce Vedral. This one focuses on developing a little bit of extra muscle to provide definition.

Weight training for women. The claim of "cellulite to sexy in 24 workout hours" deserves a healthy dose of skepticism. But one look at the cover, which shows the author at age 50+, will convince you that this works. To avoid boredom and training effect, I like to switch routines among several of Vedral's books.

Globesity, my slender, well-toned thighs! I've been using this one for years! Good, sound nutritional advice, funny quips and pictures of and from Joyce, easy-to-follow directions, and real results. She'll make you feel good about yourself when everyone else doesn't. A must-read!½
