I first read this book while I was studying for my masters in religious studies at JFK University (National University) in the 1990's. I had also listened to tapes of these conferences which I was able to check out from the theology library in Berkeley. Even now, some thirty years later, I find them to be of great interest, especially as I have continued to seek out the contemplative way at this time of my life. It includes many well known teachers, among them: David Steindl-Rast, Thomas Keating, ChoghamRinpoche, Tessa Bielecki,William McNamara, the Dalai Llama to name a few.

This book is a collection of writings by Christians and Buddhists that explore the value of prayer and contemplation, attitudes toward God and emptiness, and practical topics such as silence, virtue, compassion, sin, suffering, the self and the ego.
