Consists of the deeply metaphysical, as in the case of (the personally canonical) L'Etranger or The Castle; the highly lyrical, as in the case of Le Comte de Monte Cristo or 1,000 Years of Solitude; or the particularly technical, as in the case of tomes about theoretical physics (hobby), financial markets (occupation), or classical piano (erstwhile). Additionally, there's a fringe element of "chick-lit" (never grew up) and young adult books (not interested in growing up). I may add some field guides to plants & animals and that sort of thing— we aren't out of the woods yet.
