I get a yellow banner inviting me to switch to LT in Dutch. I am in Holland now. Is this banner triggered by ip number? How can I switch it off?

You can't switch it off. The site detects in which country you are and then shows that banner.

It's only on the home page.

The funny thing is that a banner targeted at users uncomfortable working in English is ... in English (instead of the local languages).

It should be translated, but into what language? There are countries like Finland that have more than one official language.

As a Swiss, I am used to seeing parallel translations. Usually there are four (German, French, Italian and English) and take up quite a lot of space which will rather annoy the "I hate the yellow banner" crowd, I am afraid.

And imagine a country like South Africa that has 11 national languages... We (the Swiss) only have four. LT has only been translated into three of them though (no Romansh). I already see three links in the yellow banner to the German, French and Italian versions of LT. But, like I already mentioned in another thread on the same topic, it doesn't bother me at all. I mean, the banner is only on the front page and once I'm logged in, I don't see it anymore. So for the few seconds I do see it, I ignore it.
