Percival Christopher Wren's Beau Geste was made into a movie in 1939.

The actors were:

Sorrell and Son was made into a movie in both 1927 and 1933, and then as a TV miniseries in 1984.

Note, Beau Geste came out in England in 1924 and in the U.S. in 1925. So, it is probably a repeat best-seller.

Also, Showboat came out as a Broadway musical in 1927. Showboat has 3 major film versions: 1929, 1936, 1951 (mini version in 1946 as part of Till the clouds Roll by. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes came out as musical in 1949 and a film in 1953.

Beau Geste was remade as a movie so many times that I believe it was Mel Brooks who came out with The Last Remake of Beau Geste. I believe that put an end to it.

Galsworthy, another popular author who has faded from view.

Will Durant's history of philosophy still going strong.

I don't own any of these now, but I read Beau Geste in high school and loved it. The Gary Cooper movie is good, too. It was remade in 1966 with Telly Savalas as the sadistic fort commander and Guy Stockwell in the title role.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a wonderful book and Anita Loos a genius: the empty-headed and ignorant - yet somehow charming - gold-digger is a character type who has stood the test of time.

The Wikipedia article on Susan Ertz shows the name of her 1926 book as "After Morning", but this work name is not in LT either.
