Fun kid's book - I read it as an ebook, and it's a little difficult that way because the illustrations are important and difficult to see. But I got the gist. The language is pretty simple; some of the concepts are definitely not. From exactly what the clock mice are, to the power of the bells and the Lady of Winter, to the old man's error and the danger it leads to...there's matters in here that reward thinking about (it is a Dickinson, after all). I think I'll be reading it again, in a while. ( )

I must be missing something. Judging by the mint condition this library book is in, I'm not the only one who doesn't understand the appeal. Cute enough story, with some mildly interesting ideas, characters, and illustrations, but nothing 'hug to your heart' rich or lovely, imo. ( )
