A short (25-page) Romantica that hits a 1 on the spice scale.

Two writers are on a tour of a sex club for research and witness various scenes playing out but don't necessarily see anything you could categorize as super spicy. They like each other but never really make a move until after going to this sex club; there's a Cinderella vibe going on. The "thing" is that the girl, Winnie is plus-sized so she doesn't think her colleague will like her back.

Good for a beginner who isn't sure they want to read the genre or who isn't yet ready for a lot of spice.

This is a short story about two people who like each other but are too shy to act upon it. It is book 4 in a series but you don't need to read the first three before this one. The author does a lot in these 25 pages and I am looking forward to reading the other stories in this series. ( )

An author doing fetish research, much to her dismay, finds herself being sucked in

"Taken", by Ava Delany, is a quick, 25 page read. While the title mentions it is the fourth book related to a Fetish Club, don't worry - this isn't story about a fetish club... per se. I've not read any of the prior stories in this series & I don't think I was missing anything that would have made the read "better" - so I think it's safe to say this is able to be read as a standalone. The concept is that the main character, "curvy" Winnie, is part of a writer group that is touring a fetish club for research. She's attracted to one of the other authors in the group but doesn't think he's ever given her a second glance. (Of course she's wrong.) While they ARE in a BDSM themed fetish club, you only "see" some activities in "passing" -- and when Winnie & Mark get together, it's in a pretty vanilla way. Cute twist on Cinderella for this romantica style quick read. Need a good way to switch from dishwasher & laundry duty to having some "fun" time with The Man? Read on, girls - this is a sweet erotic romance to put you in the mood for some lovin' with your special guy (even if he is BOB...). ( )

Falling somewhere between Erotica and Steamy Romance, this short story is a quick diverting read.

Ms Delany's descriptions of the Fetish Club left little to the imagination when it came to the decor. In my experience of public clubs (in this country) is that the venues are "no sex" as a licencing requirement - the club she describes clearly played by different rules!

I wondered, at one point, whether a list of "exciting places to have sex" had been drawn up and the author was asked to pick a couple for a writing exercise.

Her characters were better defined than most yet there was something of a rushed feeling about the latter part of the story - almost as if she had run out if time to get it finished.

This has the potential to be worked into something a little longer but tighter in the latter part of the story. ( )
