Story- 3 stars
Overall – 3.5 stars – A good continuation – I’m still of the opinion more pages are needed for a beefier story.
Continuing Nina’s adventures in this magical world – she almost gets drowned by that evil girl Laurie in her class and that later gets tricked by this bad fairy Amanite into following her. Amanite turns her into a mermaid and trouble soon follows. I believe there is a theme here of contrary behavior. It’s common knowledge that you don’t say thank you to fairies…so Sybil is missing from the bulk of this volume because she broke that rule. Thankfully, we learn a few more clues as to why Sybil might be in Nina’s life. Also – there is a very entertaining little ongoing game of groaning dice being played by Sybil’s sidekick Pandigole, the sweet guzzling monster – I love how they start off each volume with it! ( )
