The second volume of The Complete Chi's Sweet Home picks up where the first one left off. Chi and the Yamada family move into a new apartment and Chi has a bit of a hard time adjusting at first. She meets a lot of new animal friends, and even some new cats! This collection is just as cute at the last one! I picked it up and read it all in one day, in a few settings. It was a nice, adorable read, especially since I'm just getting over being sick. I keep getting worried Chi's going to get lost though. I don't have outside cats - and if I ever let my cat outside, I barely take my eyes off her. Chi running around the city gives me a little anxiety every time. But Chi seems to make friends where she goes and I can't wait to see what other adventures she goes on in the next volume(s). So stinking cute. Even though this volume is huge it's a quick read because you can't put it down. Chi as usual gets up to lots of antics. Chi's family has moved from the no pets allowed apartment to a bigger pet friendly one a blocks away. Chi is enamored by the space and the new yard. Plus there are lots of interesting new pets in the building. Chi has a penchant for going outside past boundaries and getting lost and surprise surprise that happens again. This time, Chi finds another cat; about the same size and age and the two become friends (begrudgingly on the other cats part). Beautifully illustrated and simplistically amazing. I love this series. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I am impressed to see a rabbit in this series, seems a very unlikely thing to see. The world Chi lives in is obviously very cat dominated and I quite like the variety of them we are shown. We see Chis ""rival"" finally show up in this book, Cocchi is quite the plot changer, as he is grumpy but also a kitten too.
I've heard these guys don't grow up in the series(which is how most series go, locked in time), but I can't help but keep wondering what some of these kittens will look like as adults.
I didn't really care for the side plot of getting Chi back to her mother. Chi's already forgotten her and it feels too convenient to have them just reunite together when Chi has a home. Plus actual cats in the book don't talk about their parents so it's clear cats here are the same as real life cats. Weaning means yeeting them. So Chi has even less of a reason to find her mother.
I am eager to see more of Blackie and Cocchi, and possibly more dog shenanigans as well. Chi is a charming series, and I love it. ( )
