Kyla's little sister follows her everywhere and wants to be just like her from the clothes she wears to the way she walks. A cute story about a little sister idolizing her older sister a lot like Angela Johnson's other book "One of Three." Johnson clearly likes to write a lot about families and sisters. The theme of the importance of family and the special relationship between sisters is clear in this book. ( ) Do Like Kyla is about Kyla's little sister doing everything she does. She follows her sisters example and tries to be like her. It is a multicultural book because the illustrations are of African American children and the story is about African American siblings. I can relate to this story very well. I have an older sister and I would do everything she did. I wanted to be just like her and now that I have children I see them doing the same thing. In the class I would read this story when we talk about family and siblings. I would have the children draw pictures of their families and we would have a discussion about brothers and sisters. This book is about a little girl who likes to do just like her big sister, Kyla. When they get up in the morning she taps on the window while watching the birds, just like her sister does and she braids her hair, just like her sister does. At the end of the book Kyla says that the birds must be asleep. The little sister taps on the window, and this time, Kyla does as her little sister does. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
