This is a new author for me but alas, it appears he only wrote three novels in this series. I could use about a dozen. Connor Gibbs is a huge guy with a heart and soul about as big. He's working as a private detective in a small North Carolina town. A small boy hires him to find his father. The story is solid and good but the characters are wonderful. I have ordered the other two books in the series. The author has another 3-book series which doesn't look as interesting but those, too, are out of print. I hope he doesn't get discouraged and quit cause he's really got something to share. ( ) Let me tell you a little about the character, Connor Gibbs: 1. 6' 7" tall; 2. 242 lbs.; 3. Muscular and handsome; 4. Martial Arts master; 5. Gun savvy; 6. Rich; 7. Has a beautiful, fit, amazonian, martial artist girlfriend with whom he has sex a couple of times a week (but with whom he does not have to live...how cool is that?? ;); and what sex they have--surely, if sex were an Olympic sport, each participant would easily score 10's from all judges (even the French and Russians); 8. Adopts a puppy (I kid you not), but, somehow, allows one of the villians to kick the puppy like a field goal attempt (see 1, 2, and 4, above, and just imagine what happened to the horrible puppy-punter). I could go on, but you get the point. The sad thing here is the writing is actually pretty good with nice--if slightly over-done at times--dialogue. Take out Gibbs' philosophical preachings "to his client" and give him some sort of imperfection(s), and this coulda, maybe even woulda, been good. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

And the only thing that will save your life is the fact that he's a civilized man...Gibbs isn't sure that the kid who just walked in can read the sign on his door.
