Borrowed a copy from the local public library, very clear that this book had never been read before. Disappointing, because this is a beautiful book about vultures. The story of what vultures like to eat is told through simple, melodic text and cut-paper collage. ( ) This book is a 2008 Theodor Seuss Geisel Honor Book, for beginning readers. The rhyming text of Sayre (who has written a number of natural history books for children), coupled with the distinctive and colorful cut-paper collages by Jenkins (a Caldecott Honor winner in 2004), create a distinctive book on an unusual subject - turkey vultures. A two-page spread at the end of the book gives factual information about these scavenger carrion-eaters, also known as buzzards here in Texas. I believe my son would have enjoyed this book when he was younger, to learn more about these birds he saw on his visits here. Wow, Natures clean up crew in such a beautiful collage of pictures and bright colors with poetic rhyming text. This will peek any childs intrest and even though it may be a disgusting thought of rotten meat eating birds, the description of the birds glide up to tilt soar scan to find the food that vultures eat doesn't sound that bad. children will be inspired by Illustrations and can create their own collages, and scenic picture inspired by the book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
