A whimsical book with poetry all about school. Every subject you can imagine from catching the bus on time to the pledge of allegiance to lunch money to friends and the playground. Shields does a great job capturing all different times of the school day in fun poetry. ( )

I liked the formatting of this book. The book has so many adorable poems involving math appealing to a younger audience. The rhyming words, as well as the pictures in the book all, come together ideally. It's a fantastic book to have for my kids at home and my kids in my classroom. ( )

This book was about school, and the different things that children encounter on an everyday bases at school, but in poetry form. I liked how different this book was in using poetry instead of a regular book telling a story. The first thing that I noticed in the book was the diversity of the children in the book. I loved how not all the students were of one race or ethnic group. I loved how the author did that and when children are reading this book, I think that they will notice that. I also loved how colorful and bright the illustrations were, that’s another thing that will help keep children engaged in the book. I think that this is the perfect book to read to children in school because it is something that they can relate to in school. ( )

Lunch Money is a longer picture book to read to the early minds. But it is funny and can really grab the children's eyes with all the comedy in it. There is also a lot of different children in the book and no child would be left out of it. ( )

The poems in the book are very cute and fun to read but they do not teach a child how to count money or tell time or do any kind of math. Time was mentioned at the beginning of the book and money was mentioned as well but not in a teaching way. This book would not be a good way of teaching children about math. When I chose the book, I thought it was going to help children learn how to count money but that was not the case. ( )
