A good book about the history, and specifically textile history and "women's work" of a utopian community of the 19th century founded and run by a very creepy autocrat. ( ) It is wonderful that someone has finally written about the Aurora Colony, and especially about the quilts. Their annual quilt show always includes a few quilts from the Colony, but it was a special thrill to attend the anniversary show in 2007, which displayed most of the Colony quilts pictured in this volume. This book is so much better than my amateur photos and hastily scribbled notes. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
