What authors should we be reading to round out our year? Nominate them below!

Reminder: Any author already discussed in the past 2 years is not eligible to be re-upped yet. (You can find the list here: https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/Monthly_Author_Reads)

>3 BookConcierge: Plenty of time to do that. Just don't forget to come back with your thoughts later :)

I think I put Marisha Pessl last go-around with no takers, but I'll post her again, in case tastes have changed :)

What about Dani Shapiro? She has a new book out I've heard good things about, and I enjoyed a couple of her novels a few years ago.

I also have Louise Erdrich and Evgeny Zamyatin on my TBR.

I'll second Louise Erdrich

> 5 Pessl seems to only have a few titles, so that could be tricky.

LOVE Louise Erdrich so I'll third that suggestion.

I'll also second Evgeny Zamyatin since that would help with my progress on the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list.

How about Paulo Coelho?

I'll throw in a nomination for Nnedi Okorafor

>8 BookConcierge: Will second Paulo Coelho because he's another one with 1001 Books to Read Before You Die titles.

>9 bell7: Looks like Nnedi Okorafor has been nominated for a number of scifi/fantasy awards so I'll second this suggestion as well :)

Here are some suggestions!

Anthony Trollope
Bharati Mukherjee
D.H. Lawrence
E.M. Forster

Feel free to second if you please ... or don't second if you don't please :)

Here are two I've recently read and was surprised to find that they are NOT on our list of previously featured authors ...

Ernest Hemingway
Michael Crichton

>12 BookConcierge: I'm surprised too! I'll definitely second Hemingway.

I would also be up for Hemingway!

What about his contemporary, Gertrude Stein? I would like to read her too but have never started.

>14 sparemethecensor: Oooh, I like the idea of reading Gertrude Stein as a group also!

Okay, so let's read Ernest Hemingway for October and Louise Erdrich for November.

For December, we have a 5-way tie between:
Evgeny Zamyatin
Paulo Coelho
Nnedi Okorafor
Gertrude Stein
Jane Gardam

Please everyone place a vote for one of these 5 by 10/1. (No additional author nominations are allowed at this point.)

>18 sweetiegherkin: Oh, and my vote is for Gertrude Stein. So everyone else better vote also or that's who we'll be reading. :)

I vote for Stein, also!

And a vote for Zamyatin in January :)

I'd vote for Jane Gardam ... prefer something a little "lighter" during the holiday season. But that's just me.

Don't forget to vote today or tomorrow! October 1st is the decision day.
