>56 bryanoz: For me, the Barsetshire books are even better the second time around, and I'm enjoying them on audiobook. I will probably continue with a re-read of the Pallisers on audiobook as well. What's interesting is that Mr Palliser has a significant presence in The Small House at Allington. I didn't pay much attention to him on the first reading, but this time his story has more meaning.

129. Wild Ass' Skin; Chouans ... other stories by Honoré de Balzac (trans Ellen Marriage), ~775pp (including prefatory material, etc). This is a volume of the 1899 17-volume Centenary Edition, of which I have the complete set. A more deluxe version seems to have been published in 34 volumes which were then consolidated into an apparently less expensive set of 17 two-in-ones, which is what accounts for the BFB size. These two-in-ones retain the pagination of the individual originals, so you have to add the numbers together.

John Le Carre Omnibus of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold / Call for the Dead / A Murder of Quality / The Looking-Glass War / A Small Town in Germany (his first five novels, all including George Smiley except for Small Town) - 832pp
#126 (>134 CurrerBell:) and #142 (>151 CurrerBell:) Terrible mistake on my part. I accidentally entered the same book twice, so the count is in excess by one from every entry from #142 onward and should be revised downward by one. Seems like the simplest way to correct this, rather than asking everyone to revise their entries, is for me to enter John Le Carre Omnibus without giving it #184.
Hence, the correct current total should be #183 and whoever (if anyone between now and the new year) enters another BFB on this list should number it as #184.
Just noticed my error a few minutes ago, so I've edited this entry to take note of it and make the correction to the numbering sequence.
