This was Sarra Cannon’s first book published. It follows a teenager named Harper. The book starts with her being sent to yet another family. She is in the foster care system and has been passed around a lot due to her having strange things happening near her. When she gets angry, things move. She arrives in a new small town and is sent to a home for troubled girls. This house holds some major secrets that are only briefly touched on in book 1.
Elements I like: witches, demons, Jackson, small town, creepy house
Elements I didn’t like: you can tell this was written in 2010 (references to certain things and the way people behave is a bit much for 2020 YA books occasionally).
I am so excited to see how this author has grown over the last 10 years. I look forward to reading the next books in the series.… (meer)
