Too short to build up the angst or really have any character development. I liked the concept but would have enjoyed it more if it were a longer story, instead of a couple pages of set-up and then all sex.

There wasn't much to this super short story. No plot really but a girl gets together with her long time crush about a month before he goes to join the army. No character development at all and nothing happens except sex. Nothing wrong with sex scenes but there should be more to a story than that. I understand that this book is serialized but based on what I got here, nothing compels me to continue.

A short (25-page) Romantica that hits a 1 on the spice scale.

Two writers are on a tour of a sex club for research and witness various scenes playing out but don't necessarily see anything you could categorize as super spicy. They like each other but never really make a move until after going to this sex club; there's a Cinderella vibe going on. The "thing" is that the girl, Winnie is plus-sized so she doesn't think her colleague will like her back.

Good for a beginner who isn't sure they want to read the genre or who isn't yet ready for a lot of spice.

Nina is an erotic novelist. She is having issue with her latest book so decides to get her neighbors, who are brothers, to go to the fetish club to help her work out the details.

She ends up dominating one of the men and finds herself being the submissive opening herself to enjoy what they are offering. The encounter turns into a really hot threesome.

After the encounter Nina finds out that the brothers have been lusting after her for a long time.

I can definitely recommend this one. I won this book in a library thing giveaway. The review is my honest opinion of the book.

A quiet surprising twist and what follows is great! I really enjoyed this read. It is short but a great story!

Good beginning to the relationship between Nina, Deven, and Daniel. Nina has trust issues because of her ex-husband but she is willing to go forward with her neighbors, the twins. I liked the interaction between the twins--how one wants to go slowly with her while the other is whatever she wants. I also liked how Nina is writing a romance but it becomes more her biography than fiction. There were times I wish the story were longer so some of the scenes were more fleshed out. I felt that I was walking into the middle of some scenes where more build-up would have helped. But I still enjoyed it.

I received this as an early reviewer. Not having read any of the other in the series, I'm interested to go back and read one or two from the beginning of the series to compare. "Awakened" was OK. The story pretty vanilla for a fetish focus, especially as Nina is an erotic writer herself. It definitely left me wanting more.

Well written and a perfect pace. While a short novella, the plot and characters were extremely fleshed out. The novella took more than one interesting twist while remaining true to the story.

Definitely worth a quick read. I can't wait to read other writings from this author.

This is a short story about two people who like each other but are too shy to act upon it. It is book 4 in a series but you don't need to read the first three before this one. The author does a lot in these 25 pages and I am looking forward to reading the other stories in this series.

An author doing fetish research, much to her dismay, finds herself being sucked in

"Taken", by Ava Delany, is a quick, 25 page read. While the title mentions it is the fourth book related to a Fetish Club, don't worry - this isn't story about a fetish club... per se. I've not read any of the prior stories in this series & I don't think I was missing anything that would have made the read "better" - so I think it's safe to say this is able to be read as a standalone. The concept is that the main character, "curvy" Winnie, is part of a writer group that is touring a fetish club for research. She's attracted to one of the other authors in the group but doesn't think he's ever given her a second glance. (Of course she's wrong.) While they ARE in a BDSM themed fetish club, you only "see" some activities in "passing" -- and when Winnie & Mark get together, it's in a pretty vanilla way. Cute twist on Cinderella for this romantica style quick read. Need a good way to switch from dishwasher & laundry duty to having some "fun" time with The Man? Read on, girls - this is a sweet erotic romance to put you in the mood for some lovin' with your special guy (even if he is BOB...).

Falling somewhere between Erotica and Steamy Romance, this short story is a quick diverting read.

Ms Delany's descriptions of the Fetish Club left little to the imagination when it came to the decor. In my experience of public clubs (in this country) is that the venues are "no sex" as a licencing requirement - the club she describes clearly played by different rules!

I wondered, at one point, whether a list of "exciting places to have sex" had been drawn up and the author was asked to pick a couple for a writing exercise.

Her characters were better defined than most yet there was something of a rushed feeling about the latter part of the story - almost as if she had run out if time to get it finished.

This has the potential to be worked into something a little longer but tighter in the latter part of the story.½

For a shot story it was very well written and it got right to the point, Love reading short stories like this one , the only thing was that at the beginning, a lot of the other people weren't needed, just the ones in the house, not the friends! All in all this was an awesome book for my needs, Thank you and continue on your path!

Ron returns to Janelle after a tour of duty. She is anxious as they have spent most of their seven year marriage apart because of his military service in Ava Delany’s THE SOLDIER’S RETURN. Janelle wants to WOW Ron and Ron has a surprise for Janelle.

I have read Ava Delany before and enjoy her work and sex scenes but THE SOLDIER’S RETURN is too short and the sex is flat. The shortness of this piece works against it. Ron and Janelle have reunion sex but the passion is that Ava Delany puts into her work is missing. Ron and Janelle deserve a longer story that shows the passion of reuniting again then more great sex after Ron’s surprise.

This short story packs a punch. I was intrigued right from the start. Mandy is a woman who has kept her real self-hidden for a long time and is in need of help. Peter is a strong man with a wild streak who is willing to give Mandy the help that she needs. The instant attraction between Peter and Mandy was a good read. It was nice to see Mandy begin to trust Peter and let some of her inhibitions go. They make a wonderful couple and I would love to revisit these two and see just where their relationship takes them.

This book is number three in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. Ava Delany does a wonderful job of pulling the reader into the sensual world that is created in these books. Even in these short stories the reader can feel the depth and emotions of the characters. If you have not read the others in this series this story surely will send you in search of them. I know that I am eagerly awaiting the next in this series myself.

This book wasn't exactly what I was envisioning. I can't say I really experienced the suspense portion of this "paranormal romantic suspense". I could tell the parts where there's to be a high climactic moment, but it didn't happen for me. The concept of the book is good however and there are difinitly romantic parts, which i like.½
