so, i've been working on an essay on juliana spahr's this connection of everyone with lungs : poems and i was wondering what other people were reading that responding to this moment poetically and metaphysically but with touchstones of political events on whatever scale -- poetic reportage, i guess? i really like leanne howe's take on this, and qwo-li driskill's as well (and Nina Cassian's more absurdist optic), and i'm trying to weave an argument about interconnectedness and a poetic globalisation... The new issue of Tinfish on translation is also sparking lots of ideas.

non-poetic sidealong reads include rebecca solnit's hope in the dark, which is actually making my skin tingle as i read it, eliot weinberger's What Happened Here, Sally Potter's screenplay for YES, the new John Berger, Live Working or Die Fighting by journalist Paul Mason.

Recommendations poetic and non-poetic, online, on paper, and on CD: reportage, connectedness, a new poetic awareness?
