nov 29, 2008, 12:58 am

Cool, Brianna of course you can join. Also, a great mystery is Pretty Little Devils, it is one of my fave books, you don't find out who the killer is until the LAST SENTENCE OF THE LAST PAGE (!!) It has romance, popular girls, notorious parties, hot guys .. and a killer loose .. and it's one of the five most popular girls.

5cornpuff12
nov 29, 2008, 12:05 pm

oh, i thought that looked really good. i am going to start reading it really soon. i love that kind of book that builds up the suspense until you can hardly stand it, and then the book is over.

6G.A.B.E
nov 30, 2008, 1:24 am

Yeah, the title sort of deterred me, it sounded a bit evil but it's the group name of the popular girls. The writer is pretty old (I think in her late forties or early fifties) but she really gets teenage drama.

7cornpuff12
nov 30, 2008, 4:20 pm

that is pretty cool. what is her name?

8G.A.B.E
dec 1, 2008, 1:27 am

The author is Nancy Holder, I think she's written more young adult books

Do you guys like Who-Done-It mysteries?

Agatha Christie is THE BOMB when it comes to those kinds of mysteries. We should read her eventually.

10cornpuff12
dec 1, 2008, 7:07 pm

i don't know what those are.

11G.A.B.E
dec 4, 2008, 9:14 pm

Who-Done-It mysteries are when someone is killed/something is stolen/someone is kidnapped etc. etc. and the whole book is about finding out who did it. Some other mysteries, you know who the murderer is and you read about e.g. the police solving it. The Pretty Little Devils is a who-done-it mystery.

12Thespian
dec 5, 2008, 9:39 am

Or the book Murder In Mesopatamia is another great Who-Done-It mystery.

I loves those books, they are a lot of fun.

13cornpuff12
dec 5, 2008, 9:13 pm

oh. i thought that it was a series. yeah. i love those kind of books. they rock.

14G.A.B.E
dec 6, 2008, 1:26 am

Yeah, and how the killer is like always the person you least expect and then next time you know it's the person you least expect but you still get surprised??

15cornpuff12
dec 10, 2008, 11:00 pm

ahhhh! exept i always expect it to be the person i middl-ish-ist suspect. that is only because i am unique, though.

16G.A.B.E
dec 11, 2008, 12:17 am

Lol! When I get a new mystery, I'm like, the killer's going to be the person I least suspect, so I think *Sarah's* the killer, but then it turns out the shy wallflower is. I'm so bad at predicting the cold-blooded murderers!

17Thespian
dec 12, 2008, 10:38 am

Yeah, ALL of Agatha Christie's books are different from the other. I never suspected what happened, to happen. You all should read one of them.

18G.A.B.E
dec 13, 2008, 12:29 am

You should read Pretty Little Devils, Stoe is it classified as a "girlie" book but I think a guy would enjoy it :)

dec 13, 2008, 10:34 pm

This was a review from a reader of Pretty Little Devils:

Hazel Stone, who is just starting her junior year in high school, is desperate to make new friends. Tired of the default group she's a part of, Hazel wants to be a member of the Pretty Little Devils, which consists of perfect popular girls. To her surprise, Sylvia Orly, the leader of the PLDs, agrees, and soon Hazel is inducted into the group, which subsists on secret parties during babysitting jobs, horror movies, and practical jokes.

Meanwhile, Hazel has eyes on Matty Vardeman --- but so does Breona Wu, the head cheerleader and Sylvia's mortal enemy. Lucky for Hazel, he chooses the newly "damned" PLD instead of the cheerleader. Unfortunately this makes Breona extremely angry, and she and Hazel begin getting into fights in class.

Sounds like typical high school drama. Well, it is --- until things turn sinister. All of the PLDs, including low-key Carolyn, shy Ellen and giggly Megan, start receiving strange phone calls and text messages referring to them as "bad babysitters" and threatening to kill them. None of the girls know who's responsible. Before long, students are being killed and suspicions are falling on the PLDs. The end result of this tumultuous year for Hazel and her friends is somewhat unexpected.

PRETTY LITTLE DEVILS is told through secret PLD chat room transcripts, a personal blog from the anonymous killer, and standard chapters. The novel is clever, full of personality and deliciously spooky. This wholly enjoyable book will be easy to devour in one sitting because you won't want to put it down!

Hope you read it!! The mystery is sooo good.

22cornpuff12
dec 13, 2008, 10:40 pm

wow. i guess i won't be bringing it to school then. in our social studies class, we are required to read for 20 mins and then start class. if i won't be able to put it down, the teacher just might take it from me.

23G.A.B.E
dec 13, 2008, 10:55 pm

Lol!! Read it at home, I read it in bed, I like reading in bed!

24cornpuff12
dec 14, 2008, 1:18 am

i do read at home. i read in bed all the time. i can't go to sleep unless i read myself to sleep. swear on the bible, its true.

25G.A.B.E
dec 14, 2008, 2:54 am

Yeah, sometimes my brain is too hyper-active and reading helps calm me down :)

26Thespian
dec 14, 2008, 11:56 am

This book sounds pretty cool. It's written almost like Dracula, but in a modern way. You find out through text messages and IM's. And in Dracula, you find out through diaries, and letters and documents.

And I read in bed too. But not when I want to go to sleep. If the book is good, I will continue reading until it's 2 in the morning and then I won't be able to function properly at school. Oh do I wish for winter break to start.

27cornpuff12
dec 14, 2008, 2:08 pm

huh. i think that i am going to read both of them.

28Thespian
dec 14, 2008, 3:14 pm

Which ones?

Dracula and Pretty Little Devils?

29cornpuff12
dec 14, 2008, 10:09 pm

yeah. basically any books that yall say are good.

30G.A.B.E
dec 14, 2008, 10:25 pm

I always read up until eleven o'clock, that is my cut off point. But I like reading in bed, even though it's not good for you.

31cornpuff12
dec 14, 2008, 10:29 pm

why is it not good for u?

32G.A.B.E
dec 14, 2008, 10:34 pm

It messes with your brain, even can give you epilespy-like side affects. Don't ask me why. If you don't get a good night's sleep, it can stunt your growth, make you really tired/sick and other stuff.

33cornpuff12
dec 14, 2008, 10:37 pm

that is weird.

34G.A.B.E

I should tell my mom this. How did you find this out?

37G.A.B.E
dec 15, 2008, 7:34 pm

It was on the news XD Yes, I watch the news sometimes. I remembered that it can also deteriate your eyes, even if you have a lamp, the darkness is putting stress on your eyesight.

38Thespian
dec 16, 2008, 3:23 pm

That is so bad! That's not good at all! I wish that wasn't true.

BYE BEDTIME READING!

39cornpuff12
dec 16, 2008, 4:32 pm

i am still going to read in bed. i don't really care if it is bad for my eyes. i already have glasses. i just don't wear them all the time because they arer reading glasses. i only wear them when i read or when i start to get a headache or feel dizzy.

40G.A.B.E
dec 16, 2008, 8:02 pm

I leave my light on when I read. And my lamp. If that isn't bright enough then I don't know what is!

41Thespian
dec 16, 2008, 8:03 pm

Then you should be okay if you read in bed. My lamp is directly over my head, so there is enough light for me. So, I guess it's good for me!

It's probably going to be on my favorite books list when I finish it.

44G.A.B.E
dec 17, 2008, 10:18 pm

LOl. I have two bookcases, one huge (nearly touching the roof) and the other up to my waist. One the big one, the first shelf is dedicated to my Twilight set. My Dad thinks a dedicated shelf is a waste of space XD

45Thespian
dec 18, 2008, 8:01 pm

I have two shelves too! One is small and one is BIG! I'm supposed to take all my books out so I can give it to my sister, and I'll get an even bigger bookshelf in exchange.

46G.A.B.E
dec 18, 2008, 8:03 pm

LOL. I need a new one as well, my book cases are full. It is very nice to see a filled-up bookcase in the rumpus room.

47Thespian
dec 18, 2008, 10:20 pm

Yeah, I get a feeling of accomplishment whenever I look at my bookshelf.

48G.A.B.E
dec 19, 2008, 3:49 am

When I look at that full bookcase, I feel smart .. though that feeling vanishes when I hear about the Albegra test .. don't worry, I aced it 34/36, an A .. wooo, wooo, woo`~ Sorry, I was just very proud of myself.

53G.A.B.E
dec 20, 2008, 7:45 pm

I used to be like absolutely bad at it but I asked my teachers for like extra work and then I slowly got better. I'm about a B-average now. I only got an A because I studied so hard and I actually got algebra :)

54Thespian
dec 21, 2008, 6:59 pm

It depends what we are doing in math, if I understand it, then I'm really good, but, if I don't understand it, my brain blows up like the Hindenburg.

Speaking of which, I have a test tomorrow. Wish me luck.

55G.A.B.E

GOOD LUCK! I KNOW YOU'LL ACE IT! XD

56Thespian
dec 21, 2008, 7:53 pm

57G.A.B.E
dec 21, 2008, 11:15 pm

It definietly would! Now, get cracking!

58Thespian
dec 22, 2008, 9:47 am

Speaking of cracking, my neck cracked when I was getting ready for school this morning. I went to the nurse last period, and she gave me this hot thing to put on my neck. IT DIDN'T HELP! Now I have to listen to this sub giving my class the story of his life. He is scaring the crap out of me, saying how his parents were drunks, he was drinking at the age of 5, and how he was not a good student and regrets it all. ALL BECAUSE HE WANTED US TO DO SOMETHING ACADEMIC IN OUR CLASS! I'M GOING INSANE!

Now, he stopped. I now need to finish some work for next period, with my head leaning on one side of my head.

59cornpuff12
dec 22, 2008, 11:19 am

i crack my neck and my back and my knuckles all the time. i guess it is because i play piano and the flute. i dunno.

61cornpuff12

ooooh. i meant my fingers, though.

62G.A.B.E
dec 23, 2008, 2:17 am

I crack my neck in the shower, it's nice. OMG, Stoe! That guy shouldn't be a teacher, I mean, a drunk at 5!!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD???!!

63Thespian
dec 23, 2008, 7:26 pm

I KNOW! Next thing you know, he's a crack addict at his college and beat up children. I REALLY thought that would come out of his mouth afterwords. But he didn't thank goodness.

Oh, and my neck. Well, I have a neck spasm apparently. It got worse when I came home, I really mean it. I have to wear a neck caste now. My neck hurts a little less then it did a while ago. Thank goodness.

And I am almost done reading The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath. It is so sad, but she writes wonderfully. I understand why it is called a "haunting" classic. And I am almost finished with Dracula. YOU GIRLS NEED TO READ IT! IT IS SO GOOD!

64G.A.B.E
dec 24, 2008, 1:05 am

Okay! I will pick up The Bell Jar and Dracula on Saturday, my library day XD Ohmigosh, you have to wear a cast? That must be terrible!

65cornpuff12
dec 27, 2008, 2:42 pm

i think that i will need to read those too. what are they about?

66G.A.B.E

The Bell Jar is Sylvia Plath's biography and Dracula is well, about Dracula (the vampires and the vampire slayers) =)

87G.A.B.E

Techincally, it wasn't really Dracula, rather based on it. Because Van Helsing is the main character in Van Helsing, not that Jonathon dude :)

88Thespian

But still, the character wasn't really like that.

89G.A.B.E

I might see this movie next week. I don't know yet. But like, it called Repo! The Genetic Opera. And it's a musical directed by the guy that did that saw movies and stuff like that. That's supposed to be really creepy. Paris Hilton is in it, and so is the woman who played the lead role in the Phantom of the Opera when it first came on Broadway.

It all depends if my mom will allow me to see it.

And also, who here has seen Nick and Nora's infinite Playlist?

mei 12, 2009, 9:53 am

No. It's clothing store. I don't think it's bad. I mean, the hot topic in my mall kind of sucked. So yeah, I think it's better. I never really was a fan of hot topic in the first place.

106G.A.B.E
mei 13, 2009, 4:09 am

100: That reminds me of my friend throwing his gum at me yesterday. He was standing on the first floor and I was on the top of the stairs and I was teasing him and he threw his gum up at me. DW, I'm used to it. :) He wears my friend Leah's ring and he forgot it was hers and started sucking it in his mouth. If anyone else did that, Leah would have killed them but there is something about Jon that just makes you smile and forgive him. :)

107: yeah i think thats so annoying. i hate preps. that was random too.

but the extremely sucky mall (can u even call it a mall?) in my town only has like 4 stores and a restraunt owned by this old asian guy in it. and the restraunt is new. it used to be a really nice old mall but these chinese ppl took over and then everything shut down and now it is all empty. but the town is going to have it remodeled. and we are going to get a hot topic and all these other cool stores like journeys and stuff. that will be a lot better for the environment and for the economy because no one in my town will have to drive for 30 mins to get a shirt.

109G.A.B.E

107: So true. :)

108: Haha, I have like four malls near me. We like malls here in Australia. My fav is this big one about two suburbs away. We don't go there often but about once month. I go there everytime I go to my friend's house, she lives like two minutes away from it.

110cornpuff12

i think that everyone likes malls, but the malls dont always work out! (coughhack! my town!) the sadddest part is, back when it was up and running, i was really little, hardly a baby! so i didnt really like to read (i couldnt yet) and i wasnt that into shoes or hot topic! and my mom wont drive me to the nearest town to go shopping either and so i have grown up all my life shopping online and wasting all my money on the shipping! poo!

Thespian- not sure if you're talking to me but if you are i hope you like it. I actually thought it sounded dumb and the only reason I was reading it was because I needed something to read for 15 minutes in Com arts and my friend had an extra book. But once I started reading I couldn't put it down. it was amazing!

That's how good books should be. They should captivate you to start reading it from the very beginning, it shouldn't be some stupid book to read just to pass the time hahaha

Oh I know, my mom says that I should always get through at least the first chapter before I put it down, but I don't want to read a book that isn't getting my attention right off the bat.
