The Hating Game meets Booksmart by way of Morgan Matson in this unforgettable romantic comedy about two rival overachievers whose relationship completely transforms over the course of twenty-four hours.
Today, she hates him.

It's the last day of senior year. Rowan Roth and Neil McNair have been bitter rivals for all of high school, clashing on test scores, student council elections, and even gym class pull-up contests. While Rowan, who secretly wants to write romance novels, is anxious about the future, she'd love to beat her infuriating nemesis one last time.

Tonight, she puts up with him.

When Neil is named valedictorian, Rowan has only one chance at victory: Howl, a senior class game that takes them all over Seattle, a farewell tour of the city she loves. But after learning a group of seniors is out to get them, she and Neil reluctantly decide to team up until they're the last players leftâ??and then they'll destroy each other.

As Rowan spends more time with Neil, she realizes he's much more than the awkward linguistics nerd she's sparred with for the past four years. And, perhaps, this boy she claims to despise might actually be the boy of her dreams.

Tomorrow...maybe she's already fallen for

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review here and on my blog Samwise Reviews. Oh. My. God. I’ll be honest, the first 10% of this book didn’t really grab me, but I was sucked into the rest of it and couldn’t put it down. I even snuck in some reading while I was at work, cause I just had to finish it. The characters are delightfully sweet and perfectly awkward, and their rivalry/romance was very well done. I felt every emotion they did, and loved the whole roller coaster ride of them. I loved how honest and open Rowan and Neil are, and I shipped them hard. I was not disappointed. I haven’t read Rachel Lynn Solomon’s other books, but I’ll be definitely picking them up after this.

1. Rowan is a relatable female main character for anyone who felt the need to be a perfectionist in high school (or in general)
2. This book includes a lot of diversity - LGBTQA+ rep (Kirby and Maya's relationship), Jewish rep (Rowan and Neil's religious beliefs), and cultural rep (Rowan's mother's Spanish heritage)
3. Fast-paced storytelling with the entire book taking the course over 24 hours
4. Similar plot to The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther, seeing as though they both have an "assassin" plot line
5. Heartwarming quote: "You are never too anything for books" ... when Neil told Rowan that he was "too old" to be reading children's books ( )

SO CUTE!

Ambitious nerds and high school rivals reveal their true feelings over a day long scavenger hunt on the last day of senior year.

Plus, it's a love song to romance novels and those that love them. It's also very feminist, sex positive and LGBTQ friendly.

I read in the author notes that she got into romance novels after the 2016 election because everything else just seemed like TOO MUCH when the world was going crazy but romance novels were happy and comforting and she couldn't get enough. And then she decided to write one and defend them as a legit genre. I've always liked reading romance, since I was a kid reading "Silhouette First Love" novels, but I've doubled down on the rom-com, chick-lit, sweet YA romance since 2016 and I have been mostly apologizing for it but this made me feel like I shouldn't. I really wound up loving this read. This book has some of my all time favorite elements. Hate to love, a mission of some type, 24 hours only and end of high school. It was heart warming read and one that I had a super hard time putting down. I loved learning more about settle as a state and also more about being jewish in America. I loved both characters, i MEAN COME on a red headed love interest (you totally are my jam neil) I loved Rowen as a character. I loved how the game Howl really crafted this novel. So much happened in this book and I loved it. I also really enjoyed how her being romance writer was elements and how hard that is for you when people don't take your passion that as being important This was def a fun read and I will def check out some of her more hard hitting books next!
